We shouldn't use the phrase "got off" on this topic >.<

Also,
Quote:
Takahashi based his CG images on a photo book from the 1980s.
From the original article. I hope anyone that reads this remembers that he did base these off real child porn. There's no logical way to defend this guy. Fake porn is fake, imaginary kids are imaginary, but this guy's source was real kids.

Yeah, this guy basically photo-shopped real girls. That's... not cool, at all.
At first, I thought this was about someone who had created images from scratch, and was prepared to defend him, but that's not what this is, so I won't.

but knowing japan, these images were legal when the pictures were taken.. so you ahve to wonder how do your etroactively apply the law when he was only modifying the images and the person who took the actual pictures of children got off fine.

There would've had to have been a grandfather clause in the law written, then apply a burden of proof regarding time stamps and what not to confirm it fits within that clause. It comes down to what sort of requirements will allow the person to fit in that circumstance.

The aforementioned photo books were sold legally in Japan for like 20 years. It was so normal, that some celebrities even did them (Chiaki Kuriyama). I'm not defending said content, but it's kind of ridiculous that someone is getting vilified for making fake images of something this old and irrelevant. It just seems like they're trying to make an example.

Just because those images were legal in the past doesn't mean they cannot become illegal, and they aren't today (Japan banned possession of child porn a few years back). Definitely making child porn based on what used to be legal is still illegal, because it's making child porn?

I mean, after all, children are legal! It doesn't mean you can make porn from children.

but he did not make them child porn, they were already childporn when they were made, he just applied some filters to them; so it's very tricky, thought giving it more tought he could easily get charged for distribution.

This is a debate worthy topic but this dude is complete scum, and refuses to learn, so he had it coming. 2600$ are also nothing. Good people regularly get fined more for peaceful protests.
Chiaki Kuriyama is the one example everyone knows, hm. She was 13 according to wiki. Her parents must be next level bonkers... Whatever, the idol scene is the worst.

Coming from someone who defends Kojika as a well-written work, this is freaking disgusting.

I agree, his punishment wasn't heavy enough. Twisted Evil

I giggled upon reading that the prosecution had submitted 34 images.

....I think you should be careful how you phrase things.

I believe they were pointing out how the phrase "got off" can also mean he got aroused from doing what he did.
