hey Some of us liked that Moe crap......... well some of it at least (wants to complete higu, rozen, get Zero and Nanoha, not to mention one or two Geneon titles he missed)

but geneon aside (please come back to us) we should be looking forward to better Bandai Ent pricing.

Good moe sells with a right strategy, bad moe doesn't. Geneon's case isn't all black on white. End of story.

I wonder if we'll see volume 6 of Freedom, and if it will be released on HDDVD. I think I'll wait until the dust settles before I make any more purchases.

I can tell you right now that no one will ever release anything in HD-DVD again.

I don't think Lucky Star will be affected consdering it is a Bandai Ent. title.

I'd still wait on Gunbuster, in hopes that we'll get it in all its musical glory.

How about you shut the hell up and go back to the gar pit from whence you came?

Yeah, and Kadokawa handed them some of that good moe didn't they. I'm hoping the key word in GATSU's statement was "over-invest" since Bandai Entertainment certainly has some moe of varying levels of quality in it's catalog. Of course licensing mediocre titles of other genre can hurt too. I'm sure Tide-line Blue didn't sell a million copies either.

I think the point GATSU was trying to make was that they didn't license a lot of niche titles and shows that probably wouldn't turn a profit. They focused on the Anime Legends and got themselves to a point where they could start taking some chances, like with Rocket Girls. Hopefuly buying up BVUSA's liquidated assets doesn't change this too much.

Who wants to pay $49.99 dollars for 2 episodes per disc?

I would. After calculated with exchange rates and weighted with average income and inflation, that's exactly the price I pay for my Region 3 Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star limited edition DVDs (although admittedly they are among the most expensive ones).

Hopefully Bandai Ent will release Sola in a boxset collection or something. That would totally rock my socks.

Would you be happier if they can squeeze 13 episodes into a single disc? With my 4.5 years of experience on this site I assume you would.

That would probably mean it will end up as a pricy Blu-ray only release. I don't think most of us would be happy with that right now.

Hmmm, looks like I have to make some quick purchases before they vanish...

I told them the US market would not bear their prices, but they wanted to try anyway... its an experience learned for them... with everyone in the US hurting, their prices would only garner support from people with liquid cash around - almost nobody in today's economy.

I wouldn't do any emergency purchasing right away; let's wait for the liquidation sale.

I'm a bit worried about Freedom 7 on HDDVD. I think 6 will be released though.

This is all good news! Bandai Entertainment has always had a strong and attractive marketing strategy. Now they are in an even better position. Good for them. Smile

Too bad for the few Bandai Visual employees, but I bet they could see the handwriting on the wall long ago.
