Had been rumored and mentioned as a short list title prior to today but it was made official this afternoon. It cant come out in the US soon enough.

Although Mamoru Oshii directed my absolute favourite anime film, Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer, I'm afraid I never cared much for the first Ghost in the Shell film, though I will give Innocence a chance.
However, as someone who enjoys seeing Michael Moore lose, GO, GO, MAMORU OSHII or Wong Kar-Wai! GO AND WIN THE PALME D'OR! Haven't seen you around Rotten Tomatoes much lately, Meier. (I'm Kiyone there.) |

Its been a while since I've sat down to a big anime feature film and its the sequel to Ghost of the Shell no less
 Package it in a nice DVD disc set and send it my way already!

Yes, please do something to shut up Michael Moore, hopefully involving firearms.
I don't mind most preachy, closed-minded, idiotic, rhetoric spewing liberals, but he's one that has to go. Besides, Innocence is pretty good. |

I hope it wins too, to prove the animation is the one of the
most artistic genre. But I think it is difficult. Because Innocence's story is more tedious than the picture. |

Have you watched it already? It hasn't been released yet right? Whatever it is, it is by Shirow Masamune. He's one of my favourites. I can imagine the story will be rather dark and brooding, like the rest of the GITS world. But we can't all be laughing and dreaming of a perfect world all the time, eh? |

(English is second language.) I mean this work's Graphic is very high quality and innovative. But main story is common except many quotation. |

I didn't want to respond to the first anti-Michael Moore comment because I thought it wouldn't be approriate (and I still don't think it is - there's are other forums for that) but I don't think that ignoring it is a very good idea either. You're the one who's close-minded. Micheal Moore is a smarter guy than you're realise (and I'm willing to bet that you haven't even seen Roger and Me) and so far he's done more good than all of your idiotic (and I'm using your words here) and preachy conservatives combined. But I'm glad you liked Innocence. I'm really looking forward to seeing it. Who knows, it might even get nominated for an Oscar  ? It's interesting that it got nominated after received very mixed reviews in Japan.
P.S. I don't mean to start any flame wars or offend anyone with my message  .

Nitaro-san wa Nihon-jin desu ka? Your command of English is way better than my understanding of Japanese. I'm working for a Japanese company (Taisei Corporation) and my admin manager paid for my basic lesson in Japanese. Unfortunately, I'm still not very good at it. I haven't seen the movie but I'd expect it to be quite good anyway. I know that Shirow tends to like to do this type of political/mecha/lots-of-guns type of manga or anime. Ever noticed how Appleseed, GITS, Dominion Tank Police and Black Magic M-66 all seem quite similar to one another in setting? Only Black Magic involved some hocus pocus. Orion was even more hocus pocus but with a scientific twist. This might lead some to feel that all his works lack originality. But I actually like his style. I won't mind having more of a good thing. |

Feels like it's an obvious winner to whatever category they put it in.
I'm pretty sure it cant have much to compete against. But one never knows, those artists can choose some polish action-dogma just because it's non-mainstream. "best animation", no doubt, "best drama", maybe

Um, Avalon would count as a Polish action-dogma. Anyway, the only way it'll win is if Wong Kar Wai doesn't have anything to show for the time he spent on 2046.
