i think theres a spelling difference..
in the japanese box office, they have both "L"s, where in american releases is 1 for censorship... maybe they made a japanese version.... or its a typo.... or its Hellsing the movie |

It's not censorship. "Helsing" is the proper spelling. |

I'm curious to see how well (or not so well) this particular
Movie will rate in the Japanese Box Office. Especially since it's based on one of Japan's Killa Franchises. |

Pocket Monsters ended in Japan a long time ago, so I suppose it's 'dead'.
Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation is in the top 10 anime in Japan, though. Along with Detective Conan, Doraemon, and Sazaesan. |

It's not dead if it's still popular. Evangelion & Mobile Suit Gundam ended ages ago, but since they're still popular they're far from being "dead." |

Er, Kamen Rider is not Sentai. The accurate term for these live-action hero series is "tokusatsu." Sentai is the name "tokusatsu" series, most of which end with the word "-ranger" in the title. Hence Tokusou SENTAI Dekaranger. I think Sentai means "task squad" or something along those lines.
Eh, I used to make the same mistake before (the Sailor Moon sentai!) so it's forgivable. ;) |

Sorry, this is a little off-topic. Does anyone know a good site that has an archive of the Japanese box office? The site that was linked to from this news story doesn't seem to have that big of an archive(only a couple of weeks).

UNfortunately Box Office Mojo seems to not always be accurate for Japan. I've seen them completely miss some movies. |

Do Korean movies play much or do very well in Japan? I was reading about Chingu (Friend)'s (2001) success in Korea and was just wondering how well they fare, if they play at all, in Japan.

Korean movies are doing very well in Japan, ever since "Shuri" (although I haven't seen it myself). Right now, Japan is in the middle of a Korean drama boom that started with "Fuyu no Sonata" (I don't know what it's really called in Korean). Many women are crazy about Korean male actors, especially Bae Yong Joon.
