There are not a few but many actions Yuuta could have taken or could still take that would make the situation easier for himself and the kids. It seems inexplicable that these never get explored, but not when you remember that a) this is an anime, b) there aren't that many episodes, and c) the emphasis is on the bonding between the girls and himself. Most of all, d) he is trying to emulate his sister who successfully made a home for him although she probably hid from him many of the problems she faced and solved while doing it. Much like he is doing with the girls now.

Although the family is bonding, they have yet to learn to trust each other and that is why they are hiding their problems, making them worse. That is easily explainable by inexperience on Yuuta's part and a childish desire to please on Sora and Miu's part. So on this score this story hangs together quite well.

I have to say, I thought the spoiler[dreams that Sora was having of her and Yuuta] was a bit rushed and random, like they tried to fit it into the episode before the finale.

I'm hoping that they don't go to their spoiler[uncle's place and just stay at Yuuta's.] I liked the environment they built during their stay at his apartment and the relationships. Like dtm42 suggested, they should send the girls to a closer school so they don't have to wake up so early and Yuuta should consider dropping college for now and focusing on his work. But, if they do take up on the offer, I can't help but wonder if maybe it's a possibility of a second season, with it including more details of if the parents are dead or alive and what will happen to the girls and Yuuta.

Huh. And I thought there were supposed to be 26 episodes, not 12. At least, so says Crunchyroll. You'd think that if they had the stream license, they'd know how many episodes there would be...

Wikipedia says 12 episodes. I honestly don't see it going for 24 episodes. I kind of hope it doesn't.

I'm not sure I'm up for 12 more episodes of the girls riding a train three hours a day, Sora mooning over Yuuta, Yuuta mooning over Raika, and that pervert Shuntarou still breathing.

I'm looking forward to this week's episode. I want to see if I'm correct in my guess at how it ends.

It's warning #1 to me. What you mods have to remember is that sometimes a poster will not necessarily see a warning in an edited post if he or she either doesn't go back to that thread or doesn't go back to the post in question. It's actually just a coincidence I happened to see this warning #2.

I'd be quite happy if the show reached a similar episode length as Chobits, as opposed to the 12/13 episodes that are the norm. I had low expectations of the show, but it has quickly become one of my all-time favourites and I can see lots of potential for it to continue.

I think there is 12 and CR made a mistake when they wrote 26. Even MAL has it listed as 12 episodes. Wink

I'm pretty sure CR would've fixed it by now had it been a flat-out error - it could easily be that CR does have the rights to a second cour that may or may not be made.

It's definitely 12 episodes, even MAL lists it as 12/12 an it'll be streamed tomorrow on CR.

I'd expect Crunchyroll to know how many episodes they paid for - how definite the plans for the rest of them are is another question. If there was a second cour that was up in the air, I can see the production committee keeping mum about it(which lets them drop it quietly) while giving out the streaming rights(especially if the idea was to air the second cour a season or two after the first).

Episode 12

I went through a weird emotional rollercoaster with this final episode. I started off really spoiler[hating it, because of the early emphasis on the impact of her parents death on Hina. I do appreciate anime/manga's willingness to explore uncomfortable territory, it's just that personally I do not enjoy the topic of a 3-year-old coming to the realization she will never see her parents again. So I was sitting there, seething in hatred for the jerks who were putting me through this unwanted emotional turmoil. The feeling only got aggravated at the gravesite where Yuuta revealed his decision to keep the girls. The last few episodes had convincingly demonstrated why the current arrangement wasn't working and wasn't healthy for any of the four no matter how much they love each other and this manifest denial of reality irked me no end.]

And then the turn happened. spoiler[ I liked the way the Parent's Day thing was handled. It was actually quite touching in a good way for Hina to see the support system she had behind her. My fists unclenched and I was no longer in danger of ramming one of them through my computer screen. And then, finally, at the very end, the show threw me the bone I had been waiting for as they obviously moved back into the family home. So the girls won't have that hideous commute to school each day and they'll be in familiar, spacious surroundings. It is never stated, but I also assume that the other family members will help out financially, so that takes some pressure off of Yuuta. I can live with that.]

So, at the end of the day, spoiler[even though the show took me to emotional places I didn't want to go and have no eagerness to return to any time soon, I do not regret the time I invested watching this series.]

But it had to hapen, it is really not healthy for spoiler[her to continue to think they are coming back, it is lieing, and when she finds out she will be upset over being lied to. If there is one thing I have learned recently in anime, it is that crying and letting out emotions is very important.]

Funny feelings as I don't want to take back what I was saying before about their situation being not right for the four of them. But they twisted me a bit into accepting it. I guess spoiler[moving back to their family's house means the older two girls can get to school faster, there will be no need to pay rent, with the characters getting enough space (two toilets). It would be good for the family to give a little hand, some were planning on taking them on, or sending Sora off to boarding school, what is wrong with a little financial suport for groceries.]

Confusion of translation of what was meant by spoiler["I'm not their father, but I'm their father"], apparently it had profound effect, but I am missing something. I thought it kinda sudden for Hina to spoiler[add the papa to uncles, though I can see him perhaps taking a big part of her life for her, but she would need time to know that he is not some mere replacement of her father. Even though he they are gone they are still important.]

Man, I am too distracted at the moment from watching TV's HIMYM (screw you TV), I should feel more from finishing this series, it was a nice end for a good series. But I just feel meh. Well the musical was plenty fun, though I unfairly compared it to a scene in Usagi Drop (sorry Hina). And Reika is still great, I want more of that character, but I only see that coming from a change of tone second season, I know they should do an OVA that focuses on her, and having her hang out with MCs.

@ DP (and just for the record, I cannot ever type DP without immaturely snickering since, as you may or may not know depending on the level of your innocence, DP is a porn term for a certain act) - I scratched my head at that Zenlike, spoiler["I'm not their father, but I am their father" business, too. Near as I can make out, what it may mean is, "I may not be their biological father and there is plenty of reason for me to be disqualified from even being considered a father figure to the girls, but at the end of the day, that's exactly what I am, whether the world likes it or not."]

By the way, not that I'm necessarily intending to buy this, but if Sentai provides a dub, I'll be willing to bet that I will not like the Hina performance, no matter which adult does it. Hearing an adult attempt to sound like a three-year-old in English almost always turns out ghastly.
