It is shojo but it's not a magical girl series. The story revolves more on Kobato's interactions with humanity in order for her to fulfill her wish. I haven't read much of it but it seems to show some potential (and Ioryogi in my favorite CLAMP mascot since Kero). Hopefully this adaption will pique the interest of English-speaking audiences, I'm still hoping some publisher will release the manga here. |

I read a chapter of these manga about 3 years ago before CLAMP picked the series back up and gave it a slight reboot. It didn't really interest me, however I will check the anime out only because CLAMP will be approving scripts and MadHouse will be animating. It's really a shame Tsubasa was pretty much massacred at the hands of beetrain, just think of what an awesome series it would been if CLAMP was approving scripts and Madhouse did the animation.

Eh, I thought Kobato was unintentionally corny. Then again, Clamp's ability to write has always been held up in question for me.

That's part of the reason why I liked it. Yeah it's corny, but it's also a lot of fun and enjoyable to read. Sort of like a junior version of CCS  .

Going by the plot summary I've read, it sounds kind of like a more classical magical girl series, rather than the more modern magical girl fights evil variant that most people have come to think of when they hear "magical girl". Of course, not having read it, it's a tad difficult for me to really say. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing the anime. I wouldn't mind seeing the manga get translated, too. |

I read some of the manga in NTUSA and I really liked it then so I'm looking forward to this.
CLAMP series aren't really what they used to be though so let's hope this is good. |

Agreed, but as you said, it's nice to have a new CLAMP work in such capable hands. Who knows, maybe when they resume LD it'll get animated then. |
