I saw this coming. Because for the past year or so, some 3DTV displays at Best Buy (and possibly other stores) have shown a 3D short that seems like nothing more than a pitch for this show. It has Pac-man and a bunch of original characters in a futuristic city. There is no doubt in my mind that's exactly what it was, a pitch pilot.

Or it could just have been a demo presentation for 3DTVs at Best Buy.

Possibly, but it seems kinda like a random thing for a 3D demo. Seems like it was probably a "2 birds, 1 stone" kinda thing. Produce this pitch pilot and use it for demos so if it doesn't go anywhere, they at least get some use out of it.

I think it was just a demo for those TV sets at Best Buy. I've seen similar stuff myself at both Target and Wal-mart, and they can be rather elaborate productions to show off how good stuff looks in either Hi-def or 3D. Some of it comes across like a full-length feature, but they're really just in-store commercials.

Are they trying to pull another My Little Pony on this one?

Because My Little Pony invented the concept of reboots apparently.

I meant pull it off. (mileage may vary)

I don't know which way this new Pac-Man is supposed to lean (dramatic or comedic), but before everyone writes this off as terrible, look at who's writing for it: Tom Ruegger and Paul Rugg, two of the writers behind Animaniacs.

Animaniacs, people!

If it's half as zany as Animaniacs, new Pac-Man will be brilliant.

And don't diss the MLP:FIM effect. It's made frikkin' ponies cooler than Transformers, and never in a million years did I think that was possible.

I think I'd still rather watch Beast Wars or Micron Legend over a preschool show about ponies.

And I don't think I want to know how a dramatic Pac-Man show would go. I can't see this being anything but a bust. At least that upcoming Battleship movies makes a little bit of sense in it's premise.

Or a new animated series about Q*Bert in 2013?? Because that would be about as expected as Pac-Man!

Okay, now I have higher hopes. If it's on and I have nothing better to do, I'll check it out.

As for My Little Pony, it's fanbase is exactly like Naruto's, a bunch of teen males in love with an incredibly mediocre show (only this time, you can point and laugh at the fans for how unmanly they are).

Also, similar to TitanXL, I'll take Transformers Prime (which is ironically on the same network) over My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic any day.

Wow, me ranting about ponies is really off topic.

hey man, as a Naruto fan I feel insulted you're lumping me in with those bronies.

People actually like Naruto for the story. People like MLP because of memes and fanon junk, not the actual show itself.

Already seen the original cartoon. They'll have their work cut out for them to top the original!

(And I used to kick ass with the original game too! Mad elusive skillz! Laughing )

You know Bandai Namco is paper dashing when they're giving a Pac-Man TV show a $16 million budget.

Well anyways, whether Pac-Man or MLP, writing off a show for being a kids show is silly and very narrow-minded.

So good luck to them.
