Gintama Goes Ape for Halloween at J-World

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Last year, Namco's J-World Tokyo indoor theme park gave us Prince of Tennis chocolates for Valentine's Day and a Naruto ninja haunted house for Halloween. This spooky season, the park is going gorilla and bringing out bananas with a Gintama event.

J-World Tokyo offers changing themes devoted to manga from Shueisha's Shonen Jump magazine. Gintama Halloween Gorifes 2016 is a "Festival of the gorillas, by the gorillas, for the gorillas." Just to clarify, its official web page features a bold warning at the top:

Participation in this event is limited to gorillas. Accordingly, all guests will be considered and dealt with as gorillas. We are unable to accept claims from those who mistake themselves as human, gori. Please understand in advance. Rah

The website also offers an "invitation to a harvest festival" that reads, "Lots of bananas ripened in my castle this year, too. Banana-loving gorillas, please, be sure to come hang out in my castle."

The event will offer Gorilla Busters Battle Garapon, a limited version of its existing Gorilla Quest Battle Garapon mini attraction. The gorilla busters, or "goribus" for short, will battle against gorillas in the attraction who want to have fun at Gorifes. The attraction costs 300 yen (about US$3) to enter, and gorillas joining the fray have a chance to win exclusive acrylic straps and tin badges.

A photo spot at the event will offer a "Gorilla King's Castle" and banana motif for photogenic apes to take their picture with.

Of course, the event's limited-edition menu items will feature bananas. Apes who want to enjoy the gorilla king's gorilla parfait will have to fork over 820 yen (US$8.14).

For more savory variety, guests can purchase the deluxe plate with cheese toast, kabocha pumpkin salad, and kabocha pumpkin pudding for 750 yen (US$7.45).

Finally, Kondō's banana cake will be available for 700 yen (US$6.95).

People can become a different primate for a day at J-World Tokyo, located inside Ikebukuro's Sunshine City complex, from October 1 to November 3.
