New Case Closed Real Escape Game Confirmed

posted on by Eric Stimson
Characters to be chosen by fan vote

Real escape games, which challenge players to escape a room or building within a strict time limit by using environmental clues and solving puzzles, are welcoming their tenth anniversary as well as the fifth anniversary of their collaboration with Case Closed. To celebrate the occasion, SCRAP, the company that organizes them, conducted a poll to gauge interest in another Case Closed real escape game. Response was apparently favorable, because the crossover game has been confirmed.

What hasn't been confirmed yet, though, is the story, always an important element for a game centered around interpreting clues and using deduction. To figure out the scenario, SCRAP is again turning to fans for ideas. You can choose from one of six characters: Harley (Heiji), Anita (Ai), the Junior Detective League, Serena (Sonoko), Masumi, or a generic "criminal." The story will be decided after the character is chosen. The poll will close on May 10, with the results to be announced on May 12.

The new Case Closed real escape game will tour Japan, but ten lucky participants in the poll will be chosen to participate in a preliminary game in Tokyo in late June. The game will also try to be more welcoming to kids and those unnerved by its difficulty or stress by offering a "Family/Beginner Ticket" this time. The four previous Case Closed real escape games will also be held once again.

The 21st Case Closed film, Detective Conan: The Crimson Love Letter, is currently in theaters in Japan.
