Yuruyuri Manga Goes on Indefinite Hiatus

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga launched in 2008; inspired 3 TV anime seasons, OVA anime, specials

The official Twitter account for Namori's Yuruyuri manga revealed on Tuesday that the manga will go on indefinite hiatus beginning with the September issue of Ichijinsha's Comic Yuri Hime magazine that shipped on Wednesday. The account did not state when the manga will return, but noted that it will announce the manga's return if there is a definite date.

The manga centers on four fun-loving schoolgirls who take over the former room of a tea ceremony club for their own "Goraku-bu" (amusement club).

Namori launched the Yuruyuri manga in 2008, and Ichijinsha shipped the manga's 16th compiled book volume (seen right) on January 30. JManga and ALC Publishing released part of the original manga digitally in English before JManga shut down in 2013.

The manga inspired three main television anime seasons that Crunchyroll streamed as they aired. The manga also inspired the Yuruyuri Nachu Yachumi! original video anime, which received the two-episode Yuruyuri Nachu Yachumi!+ television anime sequel before the third season debuted in 2015. NIS America licensed and released the first two anime seasons on home video in North America.

Namori is the character designer for Release the Spyce, an upcoming original television anime that will premiere in October.
