Gackt Teaches Japanese Actor How To Get Rich in New Lottery Commercials

posted on by Carlos Cadorniga

Like a wise guru, a famous Japanese rock star offers a famous Japanese actor some sage advice in a new series of amusing lottery commercials.

In advertisements for "Big" lottery games in Japan, singer Gackt stars as a charismatic man with incredible wealth. Wishing to follow in his footsteps is a lowly business worker, played by Japanese actor Hidetoshi Nishijima. In one commercial, Nishijima asks Gackt how he won the Big lottery drawings and became rich as the latter lounges in his luxurious home pool under the summer sky. Gackt tells Nishijima that it's a matter of mentality, and that imagining one is rich is key to realizing that image. He then encourages Nishijima to proclaim "I'll become rich" with conviction.

Another commercial has Gackt asking Nishijima how he think he became rich.

"Is it because you won Big?" Nishijima asks.

"You really think so?" Gackt rebuts mysteriously.

Gackt then advises his protege that buying Big first is the first step towards winning Big. Faced with the challenge of buying Big as soon as he can, Gackt offers Nishijima a consolatory Chinese softshell turtle.

This campaign with the two Japanese celebrities began back in June. When Nishijima and Gackt meet for the first time, Nishijima remarks on how much he seems to like money.

"I don't like money," Gackt refutes. "Money likes me."

Nishijima's effort to follow in his footsteps began there, with Gackt suggesting he make his humble beginnings by cleaning toilets.
