Also worth mentioning that the movie is being pushed back from Summer 2006 to November 2006. That could either be taken as a sign that they're running behind or that they are going to put more effort into it.

They're obviously running behind. A film such as this where, obviously, hundreds of CGI special effect elements will be added in post-production, would have to already at least started shooting if they have any hope of being in theatres by next summer. Well, unless they do a total rush job on the CGI.

I would not be at all surprised if this will be delayed until the summer of 2007 if the cameras don't start rolling soon.

Now this is interesting.
First the old time animated one and now a live-action one. I wonder if this will really work?

Well we'll see.

Transformers: 1
Evangelion: 0

CGI takes awhile. Be patient. At least the chances of this falling through are near nil now.

The difference is that the Transformers movie is based on an established franchise that has high brand awareness with a wider audience in North America and, more importantly, the Transformers movie has had a studio interested in making it since it was announced, not just a special effects house. And it has a household name director driving the project as executive producer.

I really hope the movie doesn't suck.

I would just like to add that I reported the same piece of news almost a month ago over at Seibertron.com! I am a little bit surprised it took almost a month for the rest of the world to find this out!

This movie will get treated good. I bet theres a whole bunch of CG artists wanting to work on this. As for the script, well it's transformers, it shouldn't be to hard to get it right. But you never know in Hollywood.

By the way when they mention Goonies 2 do they mean the video game, or is this a future movie project?

The Goonies 2 is a reunion movie with the cast as adults that they've been talking about making for at least four years, though it seems to be stuck in development hell.
