I'm so happy for more STB, but the fact that they chose an OVA route instead of Season 2 continues to worry me.

Unless there is not enough source material, the producers should go ahead and make another tv series. By disc sales alone Strike the Blood has shown that it has a market to support a second season.

They manage to adapt 6 volumes in 22 episodes (the ep 22-23 were extended from a short), now we are at vol 15, more than enough materials for season 2

Yes! But why not just make a second season already instead of all these OVAs? Confused

While new StB is nice, sad that this is stuff that may never be licensed in the west. Well, if this series never ends up getting a 2nd season, at least it is one of those that has it's source material licensed.

There are a number of LN-based anime series that I enjoyed, and want to see 2nd seasons for...but it seems unlikely to happen, and the LNs aren't licensed (one such series being MAOYU).

the only different between ova and tv series is OVA they can release on their own schedule. ova normally has better graphic and longer length.

In terms of disc sales yes (the OVA's did double the TV series, from 6,225 to 13,281 Source), but in terms of light novels sales, there's little reason to go ahead with a second season.

If the sales can't be further increased, it's in their best interests to boost the sales of something else. It doesn't need promotion anymore, it's like say Index, sales of the LN's have peaked, so that's why it'll never get a third season.

Remember, production committees are made up of multiple companies, and WB who does the discs isn't fronting the entire costs. The production committee for the first season of Strike the Blood is: Warner Bros., ASCII Media Works, Silver Link (one of the rare times a studio is on a committee), Showgate, The Klockworx, AT-X, Movic.
(Got that from the table found here under Section 2)

I wonder if this is going to be original content, or something from the LN's storyline?

I am personally hoping for the latter, but that may be difficult if they want to use the OVA format and if the story is complicated.

If one enjoys legal consumption, another important difference is that OVAs are far less likely to be licensed for streaming, and less likely to be licensed for home video.

Except that recently Index has been getting a lot of attention and news of a Season 3 seems to be right around the corner

More Strike the Blood is always nice, and the OVA format normally means we get better quality, but I did not enjoy the last ones that much. It seemed to me the short format only accentuates the show's shortcomings, i.e. that it is mainly just a huge fan service fest. Believe it or not, I also love the story!

Also, please give us Index III. Please.

If you are referring to the tv series, Discotek is/was going to release it on DVD.

StB is one of those franchises that I like more than I actually think it's good. But that means that more of it is always welcome; after all, when it comes to visually appealing female character designs, the anime version has few equals.
