I don't really mind that the edit out Jin's "shit" because it's implied, and you probably know what he said. "Even if that lord is an unimportant piece of $#!+"

This is probably the first time since Toonami changed the slightly disturbing and out of character line "it's like we're on a date or something!" (spoken by Tenchi to Sasami) to the much more in-character "it's like you're my little sister!" that an edit actually IMPROVED a show for me. Now not only is Jin's line impactful, the well-timed scratch makes it funny at the same time; good work on AS' part.

Next week there's a special closing-I wonder if AS will include it, or just use the same closing reel for all the episodes (as in Trigun.)

I thought Cartoon Network's policy was to let anime companies do their own editing for the standards, not do it for them like they used to in the past...

It differs depending on the company. FUNimation edits their own stuff before giving it to Cartoon Network, whereas Bandai usually just lets Cartoon Network deal with it. Geneon seems to do the same thing that Bandai does.

The dub blows pretty hard anyway, so it doesnt matter. Even my girlfriend, who is much more tolerant towards dubs-sometimes even prefers them-thought the subbed version was far superior. They can keep the edited dub (no matter how few the edits are).

Actually, the dub turned out very well. The rap-like scratching actually made that part funny and was pretty appropriate considering the series style of rap and hip hop.

Hm, I thought that was a very clever way to handle it.

The dubbing accuracy was pretty nice, but I don't care much for the voice acting (Mugen was not cool enough! i____i). However, with edits such as Jin's "shit" (Mugen's edit was far inferior awwww), I think it retained the original mood very well.

AS still edits things on their own. The head-explosion scenes in FMA come to mind, AS got the episodes completely unedited and edited them on their own. Not saying it's a common occurance, but I figured I'd point it out for accuracy's sake.

I thought the company edits it for AS?

The scratch edit was quite inventive. It is something that the FCC is going to make them change anyway if they are going to air it on public-tv so them doing it in a way that keeps with the theme deserves a hats-off. Very Happy

Yeah, Williams Street definitely won points. Heck, I thought the episode was unedited. ^^;

I was somewhat surprised when I saw the rest of Ed's leg all bloody [in FMA] and... yeah, you get my point.

Also, in Ghost in the Shell, I thought it was rather surprising that they showed the Major shooting someone's foot off.

Now don't get me wrong, I love blood and gore - but I was slightly disappointed that they didn't show the scene in Samurai Champloo where Jin was sitting in the tub naked - it made the whole latter scene where they're hung up outside totally confusing for those who may not have seen the DVD or another sub:

"So you really were sitting in a tub naked?"

Honestly, I don't think them showing that would have been that bad if we could see someone's bloody leg stump or a blown off foot. Maybe it's just me?

I was pleased with the edits. Just curious though... the part where Mugan is spoiler[breaking that guys fingers...] Was that part cut short? It seemed less intense to me. I would check but my sister borrowed my dvd of the show. Confused This is not a complaint, just general curiosity.

Um...I thought they did show Jin sitting in the tub naked. Granted, he was in water, but it was their so that Mugen's comment made sense. Although, he said, "So you were in a tub with your thing hanging out?"
