Off-topic but why the hell isn't Golgo 13 available in english? It's a manga that rivals some of the biggest franchises in japan, yet it's barely got any english releases and I even have a painful time finding scanlations online. What the hell?

Because it's so old and so long. Generally, the only series that are financially viable for dozens upon dozens of volumes in the West are the big Shonen Jump series. Golgo doesn't have anywhere near the sales potential of a series like Naruto, yet it has more than twice as many volumes. It'd be such a huge mountain of work and money to translate that entire series, but nowhere near the potential sales to justify it.

Barring a few exceptions, classic manga have never sold particularly well over here, and the ones that do are usually short enough to be compiled into a handful of omnibuses at most. The sales drop-off of a 180+ volume series would surely bring any release to a screeching halt long before it ever neared completion. Which is why Viz only ever cherry-picked a handful of volumes for their release a few years back. Sort of like a "best of" selection. It's also for this reason that Vertical is very hesitant to even touch series that start hitting the 15-20 volume range, rare exceptions aside.

Golgo 13 is ending too? Manga better give us a ton of new long-running hits with everyone except One Piece beginning to fade away.

Talking strictly shonen here, between Black Clover, Red Sprite, Fire Force and Black Clover I'm sure we have at least one ling running hit on our hands. And if you want something less shonen-y I'm certain the Heroic Legend of Arslan is going to go on for a long time.

Why no faith in Love Rush? ...ok, I'm thankful it's probably gone from US SJ.

You said Black Clover twice. You must like it.

Lol. That was my bad. Its been a long day. Haha.

I do like it of course, I've bought all the volumes already available, but I don't think it has the stuff to replace the big 3. It lacks the choreography of Naruto, the artwork of Bleach and the character of One piece, so while it does bring some very interesting world building and really goes the extra mile with its powers, I don't think it has what it takes to meet the cultural phenomenon standard set by its brethren.

I missed the news originally, so this is surprising to hear. I figured Kochikame would go on forever :p

We have yet to get any announcements of "end game" for Detective Conan, that one has been/will keep going for a while I presume.

So will Golgo finally make a mistake?

I haven't read the series, but wouldn't it get awfully boring to see a flawless protagonist do everything perfectly for so long?

Two Black Clovers aside, Red Sprite JUST got started. Has it already shown promise on being a long runner?

Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma, World Trigger, and My Hero Academia have already proven themselves asmainstays in WJS though.

Yup it's a said affair lot's of the stuff i really like hasn't been released in the west let alone English ...
Just look at what's actually selling through that god awful new york times best seller list ...
For the most part the only stuff that really sells in America is the newest stuff for Teenagers while i would murder a guy to get all of Tezuka,Golgo 13 and so on !!!
However if you are into older stuff in general i would highly suggest in checking out the European market and i don't only mean the UK but like France,Italy,Spain,Germany in praticular do what you have to do to at lest get a little more fix of the great classics.
Of course learning Japanese is the real solution to this problem !!!
