With Funimation licensing the series this early maybe we will get simultaneous Toonami dub release. That would be pretty cool.

Imagine that with Dragon Ball Super and Kai Buu Saga, imagine just how high Toonami's ratings will go.

Maybe we'll even beat Family Guy for once on Saturday. Laughing

Pony Canyon uploaded a private video yesterday on their playlist exclusive to AoT trailers. - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLN63bBjV3Gr-kC8FJrG0sBTS_v6bAoCXo

Not only did they update the official site, but today is also the release date of the new volume, and early morning in Japan. I'm reeaally hoping it's what I think it is Razz

Oh wow didn't see this coming Rolling Eyes but it only makes since they want to capitalize if the "HYPE" and siphon as much money out of the fans pockets as possible, hell i wouldn't be surprised if they had a bluray rerelease of season one ready to release next year(goes to funimations website): http://shop.funimation.com/Attack-on-Titan-Complete-Season-One-BD-DVD-Combo-FUN-com-Exclusive?whence= Anime hyper

I'm also hoping that this might mean the simudub will appear early on Toonami like what happened with Space Dandy. Very Happy

That would be awesome to the max!
It would somewhat prove anime has a chance against the Seth MacFarlane empire.

Attack on Titan actually did beat Family Guy on its second night. And that was on a year dub delay. I'm not sure if it ever did again, but if it can do it once.... http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/sdsdskdh279882992z1/saturday-cable-ratings-nba-playoffs-win-night-nfl-draft-nhl-playoffs-ufc-fight-night-more/

While I'm all for dubs for the most part, I did not like the AoT dub.

I knew this was coming, but I don't care.

Funimation does a good job for the most part with their dubs, but it seems they really fell regarding AoT.

See, I don't get this. Sure, the adaptive script had its issues, but that was the dub's biggest flaw (unless you count the titan roars as a flaw). The casting and performances were mostly spot-on, in my opinion, and even with the wonky script, I'd still prefer to watch the dub over the sub any day, and I watched it in Japanese first.

the dub for Titan isn't bad but I prefer the Japanese version, so even if it gets the simuldub treatment I'll be more focused on the sub

It's more Eren's English voice that turns me off of the dub, not script liberties. I realize that you can never directly translate an entirely different language into English, even through subtitles. But Brice Papenbrook is one of my least favorite voice actors and turns me off of every dub he's in (which sucks, considering how he almost always seems to be cast as the main characters in the shows he's in). Other than that the dub really wasn't that bad. I'd still probably watch it over the Japanese version if I ever felt like watching it again, but that's mostly just because I'm really lazy.

Literally, I don't get why people hate this dub AT ALL. The script liberties (except maybe the intro monologue) only enhanced the show, and aside from Eren all the Titan roars were basically the same (plus, the English Eren roar actually sounds bestial, kind of like Jurassic Park's T-Rex, whereas the Japanese sounds like a 30-year-old man simply screaming his lungs out). People like to rag on J. Michael Tatum because they think he tries to make his scripts as accented, frivolous, and "marvelous" as his voice (or that he just became addicted to being HOUOUIN KYOMA!!!), but from what I've seen his scripts are always done with the intention of modernizing the original, and only the Free Eternal Summer one really lost the original's tone (which even he realized as seen with his Season 1 script). It's like with Sonny Strait as a director and the Prison School dub - one misstep means you're absolute garbage? Be serious. Besides, to the elitists out there, all of the characters are supposed to be Caucasian anyway (while Mikasa pretty much grew up as one), so it only makes sense that they speak English.

As for Bryce, people seem to think that if a voice is distinctive and constantly cast, they are a bad actor. I guess this comes from the joke that all Japanese actors sound the same (I've only ever been able to get to know Jun Fukuyama's and Noriaki Sugiyama's voices myself), as well as a lack of knowledge for how Bryce is probably the only dub actor that is on par with the AVERAGE Japanese actor in roles per year. But that's also hypocritical. Why would people call him and Todd Haberkorn bad actors for those reasons, but call Vic Mignogna and Christopher Sabat good when they are just as bad (no pun intended)? Bryce, in fact, only works for Funimation BECAUSE he wanted the role; if it hadn't been for that, he would've stuck in California like his late father. And it shows - it's easily his best and most varied role to date. Also, at least the man has commitment - he played Young Vash way back in Trigun as a kid yet still does work to the point where he now gets to play Adult Vash's TWIN (Blue Exorcist).
