I am seriously interested in this. I don't know if most Japanese know what a Jew really is, and considering that most Japanese popular views rotate around classic Jewish stereotypes (e.g. frugality, obsession with details, etc.) I'd really like to see what happens when this hits the air.

Personally, I have a small hang up about this news item: Why make an animated film about Sugihara? This is one of those cases where I'm not 100% sure what advantage there will be in making an animated film. I guess it's a case of "Let's see what they can do".
Aside from the above, I too would be interested in the final product. I read Hillel Levine's "In Search of Sugihara" and wonder how much of Sugihara's astonishing life will find its way into the script. |
