I'm glad they were able to bring back the original cast so they can get to close out the story of the entire saga. They even got Amanda Winn Lee back (sorry Brina Palencia).
John Swasey is the only person original voice they brought back from the Rebuild dubs? |

Well technically Swasey was ADV as well since he was Gendo in their Director's Cut dub. As for FUNi, Felecia Angelle is also back and probably voicing Sakura again in 3.0. |

Well, this is certainly unexpected. Not bad! But certainly a bit odd. I’m a bit confused why they don’t just keep the funimation dubs they already had produced if they were going to keep 95% of those dubs’ cast. That being said, I am glad to see Amanda as Rei again fwiw. A bit bummed to see Nishimura isn’t reprising Mari, though, I thought she killed the role and even delivered more entertainingly than the original Japanese.
Either way, I think it’s extremely odd to completely redub these movies with the cast being nearly identical, but if that means we get to close out the Rebuilds with Spike, Amanda, Tiffany and Allison, I will happily take it. |

Those 240+ countries already streaming the first three movies don't seem to include Canada, at least I can't find them on Prime. I hope that's not the case for 3.0 + 1.01.

Glad that English-speaking fans could get the Funimation cast back, here in Latin America we got something unexpected. Prime Video not only dubbed the 4th movie, they also decided to re-dub the first three films as well with the same cast as the new one. Evangelion has always been dubbed in Mexico but Amazon decided to dub the Rebuild movies in Argentina with a new cast, but Shinji, Rei, Asuka and Mari are still voiced by their regular Mexican voice actors. I wonder why they just tried to dub the Rebuild the movies in Mexico with the same cast as the Netflix dub which had a mix of voices from the 90s and 00s dub.
The Neutral Spanish dubs for the the Rebuild movies were inconsistent as well, only Shinji, Fuyutsuki and Kaworu kept their original voices from the 90s dub, Rei was voiced by her original voice actress in the first two but didn't came back for the third, Gendou's original voice actor only came back for the third and Asuka's voice second voice actress came back for the third movie as well (Asuka's original voice actress passed away in 2014 before 2.22 was dubbed into Spanish). I think Felecia Angelle is in LA now though I kind of wonder if not bringing back, like, Trina Nishimura or Jerry Jewell was a matter of availability or a decision that came down from Khara because some of the cast still isn't LA-based. |

So they got Amanda Winn Lee back as Rei Ayanami. Why was she replaced in the Funimation dub, was it something about having a sick child or was that someone else.

I felt celebratory--up until seeing Todd Haberkorn's name, for reasons that should go without saying. I can only hope he's playing something very minor where I don't have to notice him so much.

I'm happy for the ADV cast and their fans for getting to reprise their roles especially Allison Keith as Misato who was probably the best out of that dub and you never hear her in anime dubs anymore, but I don't know why they didn't just carry on with the Funimation dubs other than Khara still is holding a petty grudge against Funimation for what was Anno's own fault and misunderstanding. And if they were going to make a second dub of the Rebuild movies, I wish they could have brought back the Netflix cast who were good actually. It will be interesting if people will still nitpick the dub script because it's still the same translator from Netflix or will people overlook any dub oddities this time because of nostalgia.

Based on the additional voices lists, it looks like a couple of the other ADV VAs are back too: Brett Weaver (Toji) and Jason C. Lee (Aoba) as well as some of the exclusive Death/Rebirth and End of Eva VAs: Michael Ross (Fuyutsuki), Amy Seeley (Ibuki), Kimberly Yates (Hikari), and Tom Booker (Keele).
