I hate this so much!
I've been getting into the series this year so I was excited for the 50th anniversary but this is possibly the worst way they could have celebrated it.
There's a chapter of the manga about a machine operating on people that ends up malfunctioning. Black Jack has to repair it and in the end the machine literally says that only people can operate on other people. Black Jack also says that it's a good opportunity to start hiring human surgeons. All of this seems like clear anti-AI sentiment to me! It's like the people at Tezuka Productions didn't even read the manga they're "celebrating"!

Tezuka is rolling in his grave. Which is impressive when you're cremated

Weekly Shōnen Magazine is from Kodansha. Weekly Shōnen Champion is from Akita Shoten.

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the series by taking a huge **** on it, nice. I bet all the publishers are wringing their hands at the thought of just replacing mangakas with this garbage.

I agree with all! It is awful! As the doctor himself I am sure that NO AI can brilliantly write about this!

Speaking from a small minority, as long as the manga is good, I don't care how it was created.

They should have an AI try to finish Tezuka's Phoenix manga instead. I bet the results would be hilarious.

Hilarious, they somehow found the absolute opposite of what Tezuka would have wanted. Good job, guys

Let's start with a story. In the early 2000s, Enoki Films farted out a bunch of anime based on things by Shotaro Ishinomori. One of them, Genma Wars, actually came out over here and got a dub (somehow). Absolutely every aspect of that anime is top tier, Ex-Arm level garbage. You want bad animation? With random and terrible zoom and pan effects? Done. Want bad character writing with a non sensical plot (even before time travel is added)? All yours. Want a really bad dub that inexplicably got industry vets in on the not caring bandwagon? Who wouldn't? You want to insult Ishinomori's entire body of work in one fell swoop? This anime does it all!

And yet, I have suddenly found new found respect for Genma Wars. And Ex-Arm. And Garzey's Wing. And Gibiate. Even Mars of Destruction. Because at least those were made by thinking and feeling humans, even if they were low on budget and damns to give, at least they were actually made by people.

I thought Genma Wars was insulting to a legacy in a way that couldn't be surpassed, but that's only because no one else had tried harder until this very moment.
