It's definitely far from an original story, but I think it played around with the typical tropes and cliche's quite well, especially with it's colorful cast. It was just kind of fun.

I just wish the production values in the later half had been a little stronger.

I gave this one the same grade as Richard, and for mostly the same reasons. I described this one as "not unwatchable, but definitely not remarkable" on a different site.

Since Richard's tastes and evaluations concerning fantasy anime seem to be very similar to mine, I'd be particularly interested to see his take on Farming Skills in Another World, which I found to be far superior to this one in the same season.

Richard wrote:
He is mature, kind, trustworthy, and straightforward. He's not afraid to compliment those around him and let them know how he sees them—especially when they're hard on themselves. This makes many emotional moments hit home in ways they might otherwise not. He's such a good and charismatic guy that it's obvious his words would hold serious weight. Moreover, it's easy to see why Ray has a group of girls head-over-heels in love with him and why his friends and army buddies are willing to go all out to support him.

This was what got me to continue watching the show. I really liked Ray, and I wanted to see him have the happy school life he so deserved. Yeah, not a great show, but Ray was a good character.

One of the rare shows where the English dub actually improved the show.
