Looking rather gorgeous so far! Definitely very curious how this is going to ultimately turn out.

Not a single shot is from the comic and the is no Keanu who is the protagonist. None of these are negatives but it´s impossible for Keanu to net get a small part due to marketing. The show having a noticeable budget is a good sign but Watanabe never cheapened out so far.

???
It's based on a comic and Keanu is supposed to be the protagonist? Could you elaborate more on that?

It's an original anime, there's nothing to comment. Either residentgrigo is simply wrong or he's mistaking it for another work...

Are you thinking of BRZRKR? This is an original announced a couple of days ago

The name in my head got mixed up with BRZRKR, which is getting an IG anime.

Greg Rucka´s Lazarus was on my mind. It got a loose Netflix film adaptation. All of this makes much more sense now! Haha. Keanu Reeves led midnight anime is still on the menu.

The music is pure Watanabe and the visuals look great but I can't help but be reminded of Super Crooks.

It looks amazing. Anime really seems to be trying to get me back into anime.

Did you watch Carole & Tuesday? Some of the performances were good but overall the production of the show was rough. From the trailer, it also doesn't look like Lazarus will reach the polish of Watanabe's earlier works.

Something someone said in the videos comment section caught my eye
Quote:
This looks like exactly what everyone wants when you say "Directed by Shinichiro Watanabe."
It is a feeling that a lot of these co-productions have, like they are made to appeal to people who started watching Anime in the 00s on Adult Swim and/or DVD. Don't get me wrong, throwbacks are great, especially when they have a new spin on an old idea. But at a certain I start to question why bother watching an action sci-fi drama or thriller that's trying to emulate similar titles from the 00s, like what BONES and Production I.G made, when i can just go back and watch those shows.

I'm not knocking Lazarus, there's only a trailer, and it looks pretty good, but Watanabe making shows that on paper people might not want from him, like Space Dandy, is just better. The best things in life are the ones you never knew you wanted.
