A fine coat of artistic polish can't hide the fact that, between the explosions and the viruses and the zombies and the guys on bikes, this is a bog-standard C-grade adventure.

Yeah. But its my kind of Bog-Standard C-grade Adventure! Cool

Gotta remember to nab this next time I'm out.

Repeat as many times as needed. How long are we going to let Azuma get away with this?

No more!

NO MORE!

Down with slice-of-life tyranny!

But yeah, given the snail's pace at which time is moving in Yotsuba's world, I've always thought that Azuma would stop when he'd depicted one full year. I don't think he's gotten half way yet.

Glad to know I'm not the only one dissapointed with Nightschool. It's so fragmented and too much is going on at once.

Me thinks Svet bit off more plot and characters than she can handle. Sad

Code Geass is definitely a franchise where you can only take certain parts of it seriously at best, which is arguably more intentional than most assume, but this is just like buying sanitized doujinshi. No thanks. I'd imagine that even Nightmare of Nunnally would be a better investment in terms of both time and money, if anything, and I'm not a huge fan of that particular manga spin-off either.

Regarding the rest of the manga, I'm not familiar with most of the other titles. Although....I'm actually waiting for the animated adaptation to continue but that's a pretty decent Black Lagoon review. I'd say it's a fair assessment of how things stand early on.

As an ex-bookstore employee who loved working in a small independent bookstore, Kingyo Used Books sounds fabulous. Will definitely try to remember to keep an eye out for it.

Wow, the new Code Geass manga truly does sound trashily, epically awful (as if I had any doubts when they first announced it). And yet...I kind of want it. Dear God, does that make me a fangirl!?

*Shudders*

Totally agree with you there. This book-on-books spin sounds like the most interesting thing coming up (while I wait for the next Ikigami, Kurosagi, & Real volumes to hit the shelves). Wink

1. Yay! A call out for Manwha reviews! I want to write one, but I don't know when I'll get the time...and there are so many series out there: Two Will Come, 50 Rules for Teenagers, Pig Bride, Bride of the Water God, 10, 20 and 30, Full House, Goong, etc, etc, etc...question: Is the "For/Against/Conclusion" review style copyrighted, or can guest reviewers use it?

2. I love Nightschool, and even though I rarely buy Yen+, I can figure out who's who pretty quickly. The humor is ebbing a bit, but the mysteries and characters (particularly magic teacher Roi, Hunter leader Daemon, and main character Alex) are pulling me in. It's one of the few manga series that I own all current volumes of (as apposed to library borrowing) and I'm really looking forward to volume 4. But with Yen+ going digital, how wll the serialization hold out?

3.How hard is it to make fun of Code Geass? At the risk of being flamed, that show often seemed like a parody of itself (or perhaps Gundam) than a drama to begin with. Which is why I liked it Razz
But it's so much cheaper and easier (and probably funnier) to get your CG parodies on the interwebs. I recommend Sehanort on Youtube.

Those videos are some of the most hilarious things I've ever seen. They make me laugh so hard that I have tears streaming down my face and almost forget to breathe. Thanks for reminding me of those, now I have to go and watch a couple of them again.

I actually picked up Kingyo Used Books at a bookstore and considered buying it. It seemed very interesting, but I only had seven bucks on me. Embarassed

Awesome, my review got used. It probably only got used because no one's sending in reviews but shut up I'm still happy.

Chapters of Kingyo Used Books are available for FREE on Viz's SIGIKKI website. Google it Very Happy

My 9 year old and 6 year old both love Yotsuba, & can't get enough of it. I'm talking 5th reading of some volumes!

Went out and bought Kingyo Used Books with a coupon... it reminds me of the anime Bartender, where manga is used to help people realize things about life, instead of alcohol. I enjoyed it.

Glad to see Sekihiko Inui's new book on here....
I loved his take on Comic Party but I found Murder Princess to be disappointing, and from this review looks like Ratman will be following suit.

Oh well, I'll pick it up anyway lol, I like Inui's crisp style and bizarre humor.
