Can't wait to see the new Interest Feed tomorrow! Really excited about all of this (and it's nice to have some warning before stuff changes, *coughdeviantartcough* )

SO TRUE! D: I hate it when they suddenly change everything (even though I do like what they have right now)

I'm so excited about the changes, but the let the viewers change the icon thing. Neutral I personally like the icons right now, the one with the editorials and reviews could be changed. But everything else seems okay to me. Very Happy but who knows! maybe will see what other artist can do.

I think this is a much welcome and overdo improvement. The page will be cleaner, more direct, concise, comprehensive, customizable and understandable - all at the same time. I'm not sure what complaint anyone could have as you don't even necessarily have to lose anything. Even the default icons are simple and functional enough to work. The only suggestion I could throw out there is maybe a "grouping" function? So that rather than a series of:

News
News
Interest
News
Review
News

Or whatever, an option to separate them by categories might prove helpful (don't know if this is already in the design). I only ever look at Zac's blue box to the right so I'm definitely looking forward to the suggested improvements. Although this does make me wonder how will that part of the layout be effected? The small images are another part of the appeal of the blue box section.

All bases appear to be covered. The ability to prevent certain types of content from appearing in one's personal feed might bode useful, especially for users to whom certain announcements are not (or legally cannot be) relevant.

One thing I thought about that I would like to see is some way to keep track of which series on the site one is watching and which episodes of those shows they have already watched. Maybe a "Add to My Anime" button on the video page or something like that and then a section in the "My Anime" section showing what videos one is currently watching.

As it is I often keep a small text file listing what shows I'm watching and which episodes I've watched. It can get confusing when you're around the middle of the series and can't remember exactly which episode you saw last.

Yeah I agree with you. I would love to see that for the "My Anime" section.

The site changes are coming faster than I thought. I guess the "24 months" timeline didn't exactly specify when major changes would take place.

We're planning a TON of new features, revised layouts, and stuff, and it'll all be rolling out at different times. When Chris said the site will be unrecognizable in 24 months, that's kinda when we hope to have everything we have planned completely done.

But there will be LOT of changes in the very near future too! Gotta keep up with the times...

I am always glad and grateful for improvements from Anime News Network. But due to the liveliness of site (which I am extremely grateful for and most, if not all the thanks for that should go to Edgan Loo) that makes the site worthwhile to visit very often.

RSS feeds are nice and are very convenient, if you know how to use them. Which, luckily for me, I do.

Thanks for all the hard work ANN and thanks for constantly improving yourself. I've seen/read other anime news sites, but almost none of them are as well kept (consistent moderation, frequent updates from the owner and other staff and constant new news.)

It kind of makes you wonder what other changes they'll make and what the final product will look like considering this is only a small part of it. I mean they already fixed the video player (THANK YOU!!). Maybe they're thinking about making it like iGoogle where you can pick what's on your own front page (yes I realize they said something like this in the article)

From what I understand, what you're looking for is a lot like what the My Anime List site already does (it's a big ol' database of anime and manga, and you can add titles to a current/complete/dropped/plan-to/etc list, update for episode number you're on, etc). If ANN thinks it'd be worthwhile to add such a feature, that's fine, but I think MAL already works well enough, and I see ANN as a site with a totally different purpose (news, encyclopedia info, columns and features).

(edit: okay, maybe I misunderstood a bit—if you're just looking to track the series you're watching that ANN hosts, I can see how it might be useful to have some indicator of which episodes you've already watched.)

Anyway. Excited for the new changes! I'll be checking the site out first thing tomorrow!!

To be perfectly blunt, I really don't care about all these changes to the site. As long as I can get an RSS feed for all the articles, I'll just pick and choose what I want to read based on the headlines.
