Glad you finally got around to reviewing this Theron, been waiting for awhile Smile

Glad you liked it though! I'm super excited for when we get to book 5 and on so we can get all new material (not seen in the anime). Having said that, I think this may be my favorite of the novels so far, so I honestly don't mind retreading these great characters and story.

I really love the new, painted/non-anime style cover this time around.

This was a great book. A good length and a good plot. Plus, as Key noted, the interplay between Holo and Lawrence remains very witty.

I envy Lawrence and hope he can keep hold of the tail of happiness. He's done a pretty good job so far.

Actually, I believe book 4 will be new material, as the 2nd half of Spice and Wolf II is book 5, from what I have read.

That said, I agree with your sentiment and hope wholeheartedly that Yen Press continues publishing the series. It is well written and translated, and the characters are some of my favorite in recent literature/media. I loved this book, and the anime that sprang from its pages. Can't wait for the DVD, sometime this year... (Maybe they will do blu-rays someday?)

It will also serve as a nice place holder until Funimation finally gets the second season of the anime released.

Reading this book certainly makes me look forward to the second season!

I thought this volume was the best one yet. The whole 'major misunderstaning' thing was interesting. I can be pretty stupid about some things, sometimes, but even I could see what the problem was, and who was responsible. But they figured it out in the end, which is what matters.

The other supernatural character was interesting too. I wonder if this person will reappear in future volumes. I'm also thinking that if there is one, there may likely be others.

I'm looking forward to reading this. I saw the anime first in the case of the first two novels, and though it followed the books very closely I didn't feel like reading them after seeing the anime was just a rehash. There is enough extra depth in the books to make them completely worthwhile, even after watching the animated version.

I just finished the second novel yesterday, so I guess I'd better either get this on order or get to a bookstore soon to pick it up.

Go ahead and pre-order the fourth novel, too. TRSI shows a 21 June release date for the book. ^_^

Not a bad idea at all!

It seems like they are releasing them about every 6 months. I hope they keep it up.

Troll harder, loser.

Anyway ... I absolutely ADORE the realistic cover art they are doing for these novels <3 Spice and Wolf is a true gem in every format (novel, manga, and anime) I REALLY hope that Funimation releases (and dubs!) the second season Smile

They are streaming it here at ANN and on their YouTube channel, so it seems pretty likely that it will get a DVD release and probably a dub since they dubbed the first season.

With the novels and a manga both released here in the states, I'm thinking this is probably a reasonably popular title. Otherwise I doubt they would have bothered with the second season.

I believe that Lance Haskell stated in one of the ANNCasts that they were very suprised at how well Spice and Wolf did. So, the first season definitely did well, and so I'd be very surprised if we didn't see the second season dubbed at some point. Of course, what I'd really like to see is Funimation release is the Blu-ray versions of both seasons, but there's no sign of Spice and Wolf on Blu-ray in North America yet...

In any case, it's great that Yen Press continues to publish the Spice and Wofd novels. I hope that they're doing well for them. It's one of the few light novel series that's actually continuing to get released in the North America. We may actually end up getting the whole thing! And that is rare indeed for light novels in North America. If only more people actually read books...
