Still all too vanilla for me. Seems the harder stuff just can't get licensed.

Maybe they're starting with the 'vanilla' stuff with wider appeal to build up capital and demand so they can go after the 'harder' stuff

One can hope. There's only...hundreds of titles to choose from, the stuff is endless.

Digital Manga is expanding their market share I see, trying to build up a male readership. Don't care about hentai manga myself, but I love it when more stuff is available legally, and here's hoping that the line does well for them.

Same here. It helps that there are tons of H manga they can pull from. Most are only a volume or two, so there also isn't a commitment to produce 15 to 20 volumes per series. Looks like people are paying a pretty penny for it, too, which is a good sign.

It does make me wonder, though, how people decide which ones to get, particularly if it's a blind buy. Like, if they were chosing between Virgin Games and Motte Kosu tte based on a cover and a brief description, which one would people grab? The one with the more explicit cover or the cleaner art?

No idea on blind buys, I check out h-manga and doujinshi primarily based on the artist first. If I don't know the artist, you check out the art and sexual scenarios. Story comes last, but that doesn't mean it's unimportant.

You know, I'm a yaoi fan, female, and I'm happy to see these books coming out in print here in the U.S. If I have my yaoi books, guys should be able to get their hentai books. More for all of us is a good thing. Very Happy

Project-H's releases are fairly good quality, the bindings have just the right amount of glue, so I'm glad to see them pick up more titles.

Still disappointed at the lack of otokonoko titles, but I retract my earlier mention of that in a previous thread about DM's Project-H releases. Generally, explicit hentai involving crossdressing boys falls into the realm of hard-core shouta-con. That's not what I aiming for nor expect them to be willing to release. I want gender benders ranging from as vanilla as can be up to full or partial nudity, with kissing and tame sexual situations (regardless of the type of pairings).

I would suggest Prunus Girl as an example of the tamer side
and Asuka Hybrid (one of my favorites) on the more ecchi side.

How about "No Bra". It's not otokonoko, but it's still a fun gender-bender shounen-ai ecchi manga with a "straight" ending. Frankly, I can't stand shounen-ai, but "No Bra" was too funny.

And walw6pK4Alo is right. We need more hardcore stuff. Whoever licenses an Erect Sawaru tankoubon will have my eternal gratitude.

Wonder what the odds are of Project-H picking up anything by Satoshi Akifuji, Kei Amagi, Tamako Kimio, or Yoko Uesugi.

No, if you have your yaoi books, I should be able to get yuri books, i.e. not just pr0n. The ratio of yaoi (i.e. destined for female readers) to yuri (i.e. destined for male readers) in English-language is like 1:5000. Too many guys just can't feel the love!? Why does it have to be pr0n!? \(゜ロ\)(/ロ゜)/

And yes, agreed. We also totally need more otokonoko (trap equivalent) manga!
I concur with your disappointment, but it's to be expected... otokonoko manga is still a very foreign thing to the average manga reader ("what!? he's a guy? gross I'm not reading this").

Well, they did licence one tame title that you may say got trap manga's foot in the North American door (even though they labelled it 18+ like all of the other ones), which was Classmate no Josou o Tetsudattara Kawai Sugite Furue ga Tomaranai Ken, whose title changed to simply My Cute Crossdresser by DM. But since it's still Project-H that's doing it, it's still labelled as "Hentai Manga" and slapped the H-manga-premium price tag of $18, even though it's "ALL AGE OK" and only $8.75 in Japan. Bought it for $13 off of Amazon anyways; it's pretty good as expected, but totally mislabelled as pr0n. It might actually disappoint some people that it's not. (・.・;)
Prunus Girl would be a great next step in the right direction. Maybe they could even get The Secret Devil-chan here eventually, but that may be just giving my hopes up. As for ACTUALLY licencing REAL otokonoko H-manga, as you've said, yeah that's much less realistic.
