It looks...like a DC comic.

I don't know, totally mixed feelings about it. It looks like they've got the characters down, at least.

That may be because Chris Weston IS a comic book artist, and has indeed worked for DC. He mostly did Vertigo stuff, his most notable run being on The Invisibles.

From looking at the storyboard, and they said on the blog how they are keeping this faithful, I do believe them.

I definitely like a lot of the stuff they're trying to go for here. Some good compositional juxtapositions.

While we have no information on the script, and no performances were shot, I will say that I like what I'm seeing with these storyboards. I'm kind of wishing the film made it further along into production - or at least we got some actual people cast, instead of just rumors & speculation.

I can't judge the story based on storyboards alone, but at least a lot of the characters look similar... despite the obvious ethnic differences, which won't matter if it they respect how the story goes in the end...

Wow. Um, can we scrap the movie and just release a book of the artwork?

Yes! I knew it was the same Weston. He did Morrison's, The Filth, which is brilliant btw.

I'm pretty against a live action remake of Akira but I would totally buy a Weston Akira comic book. Hot damn!
