Awesome review, Dave. I am still not sure how I feel about this game. One part of me is really happy that they at least tried to do a little something different with this game. But I also am a big fan of the two other classic RPG styled ones in the series. I was super hyped for this game when it was first shown at E3 two years ago or whatever now and is one of the reasons I picked up a 3DS. I am also quite sure I will play it someday but for some reason I don't quite feel the urge to play this one right this minute.

Same here, interested to try it but I own more compelling game that I need to finish first... maybe next time...

With the Paper Mario series having been quite possibly one of my favorite ones due to its quirky characters & story/writing, I was fairly offended by a lot of the design choices that have been mentioned in various interviews with the dev team.
I don't doubt that the game still isn't a blast to be playing, but I'm not going to risk spending full price just to yell at my 3DS screen for them having removed all of the major RPG elements and bite-sizing the game down to a portable spec. |
