Technically closer to four days. That's actually on the good end for TBS simulcasts, though, which have sometimes been delayed a week (like Photo Kano and My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) or more.

I'm willing to give this a watch because it's Gainax.

Why delay at all? Isn't watching it on CR better than watching the fansub (which would come out a lot faster)?

Better only in the fact that it's legal. CR quality is usually worse TBH, in both video quality and translation quality (with some obvious exceptions of terrible fansubbing groups). Their player is also still crap

I knew a certain former fansubber was going to be working on this, but I’m impressed. The quality of translation is extremely high. Ep1, at least, is easily better than any group that worked on Bakemonogatari.
General level of retention of meanings, smoothness of language, and text length are all in the “A” range.
There is still room for improvement, but in terms of overall quality (accuracy, smoothness, and nuance), it’s excellent. If they can keep this up, TLCed batch will not be necessary.
