Great news. The anime impressed me greatly and I'll probably give the LN a try in the future. I'm not sure about a season 2 though since I heard there aren't enough materials enough for an adaptation for now...

I believe it's a magazine mascot. If you look over past issues they all have very similar character.
No idea about the artist.
