Shimakazes outfit isn't practical at all but looks so good. Can't wait for the KanColle anime this year

Yes, I'm a million years old, and remember when they all dressed like Chun Li and Felicia. Sad

At least I still recognize Hatsune Miku at #4.

In my one experience at Comiket, there were barely any men in cosplay, but tons and tons of girls in cosplay of popular female characters. Not sure if thats the norm or just my own experience, but that would explain these sales.

Even if you don't think it's "too gay", it's just a fact of life that girls can cosplay and look the part, guys just can't. Sad
It's true at Disneyland, too.

^ Hahaha Sailor Bubba

On a similar note: "Japanese men reveal the costumes they want their girlfriends to wear"

  • 9th Place (tie): School Swimsuit – 7.7%

    9th Place (tie): Bondage Gear – 7.7%

    8th Place: OL Uniform – 10.1%

    7th Place: Flight Attendant – 11%

    6th Place: Maid Uniform – 12.4%

    5th Place: Bunny Girl – 14.8%

4th Place: Schoolgirl Uniform with Blazer – 16.3%

    3rd Place: Nurse’s Uniform – 17.7%

    2nd Place: Chinese-Style Dress – 18.2%

1st Place: Schoolgirl Uniform (Sailor Suit Type) – 23.4%

Combine the votes for the two types of schoolgirl uniforms, and together they total just under 40 percent of the responses. Add in the school swimsuit’s votes, and in the end, high school-themed outfits accounted for almost half of the selections.

A 35-year-old software engineer who chose the sailor suit as his favorite put it simply: “I can’t help it. Seeing the girl you like in her uniform is the dream of all men.”

But while the study participants had no problems telling the survey administrators their favorite look, many confessed to being unsure of how to broach the decidedly delicate matter with their girlfriends. Might we suggest printing this article out and leaving the copy lying around the apartment for her to see?

(Well, was referring more to everybody's old wedding pictures, where the bride always looks perfect and ethereal in her dress, and the groom always looks like a dork somebody stuck in a tuxedo five minutes before the shot and the cameraman caught him off guard. Wink )

In the old days, you knew a character by their costume and/or hairstyle--
If a cosplayer wore a tigerskin bikini, it wasn't hard to guess which character they were playing, and you couldn't mistake Card Captor Sakura's school uniforms for anyone else's.

And while there are core AoT fans who like the jacket (I still gotta CR that show sometime...), think it's more an example of Japanese girls who just happened to want to wear the same school uniform as the Certain Index school did.
US fans don't have school-branded uniforms, so we're just focused on playing the character we like for the dress-up acting challenge of it.

A local high school teacher suddenly arrived on the scene to agree with the sentiment, adding only "....HIGH SCHOOL UNIFORMS!!!!!!", without further comment, before being quickly ushered out of the scene by two high-school girls and a fourth-grader in pigtails. Laughing
