No surprise there, this project was pretty much doomed to fail at the outset. My guess is that Namco Bandai had some gigantically unrealistic expectations of the market for their older brands, that they could somehow "cash in" on this whole mobile gaming goldmine....that is, until sales numbers started coming in and they realized this project wasn't going to even recoup the salaries of the people required to run it.

God dammit, I just learned about this place from ANNCast. fudge the economy and the government behind it, we're all getting shit on by big chains.

These J-websites don't seem destined to last too long. Daisuke probably won't last. That Kadokawa free manga site neither.

Wow, about 3 weeks after the ANNcast with them, this happens. Although with the material they had to work with, Namco Bandai should've known that it wouldn't be a big hit.

This is unfortunate to hear about, I'm sorry to see this getting closed.

One makes money, the other likely doesn't.

Did you even look at the stuff they were putting out? All they were doing was updating old video games to mimic the generic stuff you supposedly dislike. Just because it's a small company doesn't mean they were producing creative or alternative works.

Disappointing, mostly because I LOVED what Kurtz and Straub were doing with Mappy.

Hopefully they'll go back to Blamimations after this.

The hell? I still need to finish Wonder Momo. Any chance this stuff is going to be archived?

It's not something that ever interested me, but I wonder what's going to happen to Rob Pereyda now. His closing comments from Twitter:

It makes me sad to have to be the one to close down @ShiftyLook. Letting go of so many friends is rough, and so is letting fans down but we did some great things over the years. Our last product, a Wonder Momo game by @WayForward, already has great early press feedback.
We made so many things it's hard to single any one thing out, but I think the Bravoman cartoon turned out far better than anyone expected.
We owned Tumblr dashes on the weekend Namco High came out, that was really cool. (If you don't know what "Tumblr" or a "dash" is, go away!)
Our final comics lineup was something special: Bravoman, Wonder Momo, Galaga, Valkyrie, Katamari, Klonoa, Tower of Babel, Dig Dug.
Sky Kid, Dragon Spirit, Xevious, Dirk Davies, and Rocket Fox made it many strips more than many other comics. They were all fantastic!
Even the early cancellations, Alien Confidential, Scar, Wagan Land, and Golly! Ghost! were solid fun. We enjoyed them enough to greenlight!
We knew the Mappy cartoon was going to be funny the moment @pvponline started singing the song at SDCC. "Turned in mah badge" is THE line.
My favorite @ShiftyLook comic strip of all-time is "Mrs. Bravoman?" - http://www.shiftylook.com/comics/bravoman/mrs.-bravoman
I am really sad we were unable to release our groovy cool Dig Dug interactive comic with @ZachWeiner & @reiley. Great story, art, and HEART.
Long live ShiftyLook.
