I've seen the serious as a sub-english, though it does have some cheesy moments, frankly the separated sex thing is oddity in the plot. I enjoy for the fun of it and the animation which was very good. The original music was very good on top of it, for J-Pop.

spoiler[I personally liked how they did a nod to Getter Robo G/Starvengers when they launched the 3 vehicles. Its virtually if not the original sound effects of them launching. The Mars needs woman thing was annoying though.]

This was one of those series where you just had to turn off all notions in your head that science is required to be in any way logical. What worked for me were the developing relationships particularly Zessica's efforts to become first girl to Amata. Shoot if he doesn't want her I'd take her.

Not a bad show but ultimately forgettable.

Aquarion Evol's conclusion is largely satisfying, especially if you are familiar with the first series.

As someone who liked the first season quite a bit because of its tone (it knew it was silly but it also knew when to get serious) and mythology, Evol was not satisfying in any way post Episode 13, aside from maybe the Banana episode.

The "Twist" was stupid as it was not present in the original show aside from a small brief shot at the end and was only featured prominently in the OVAs and movie.

Evol had issues with what to do with characters. spoiler[Fudo], Zessica, Kagura all suffered from it. Heck, I'd say even Mykage did. They made spoiler[Fudo] completely different from the appearance in Genesis and Wings. It made the role in those to be kind of mean spirited as well.

There was the tone issue as well. Roughly around the same time Evol entered the second half, AKB0048 was starting up. It seems Kawamori and co put a lot more attention to that then Evol and it suffers for it.

I was hoping for Mikono and Amata to get some development but that never really happened while Kagura and Zessica got forced together at the end.

I really hope that Evol gets an OVA/Movie treatment like Genesis did. That did wonders for the characters just by removing one or two, allowing others to shine, plus it drastically changed the perception of my views on Sirius and Reika who I just found pretty meh in the series (I ended up using primarily Apollo/Reika/Sirius in SRW Z shortly after) Who knows, it could do the same for Mikono and spoiler[Fudo.]

Episode 14 solidified Evol as my favorite anime, and all the symbolism I though to be brilliant as it added to the experience and reinforced the series's message. It was pretentious as all frick, but I supported it to the end, cheese and all.

If they're were any flaws, Zessica's new clothes were "wtf" and episode 17's writing dropped in quality from the rest of the series for some reason.

Evol's one of my favorite anime's I've seen. It's cheesy and ridiculous, but i found really enjoyable and entertaining. Whenspoiler[ the word Evol literally reversed to Love] it blew my mind with how over the top it was, and that I didn't bother to make the connection before. Plus it had great art and animation (with some of my favorite character designs so far, especially Mikono and Yunoha) and an amazing soundtrack, with the first opening being one of my favorite anime themes for a long time. Haven't watched much of the dub, but what I've heard of it sounds good.
