When the headline stated "manga characters" and "national baseball" team, Goro and Eijun quickly came to mind. True enough, they were two of those characters. Ren and Uesugi should also have been expected as well, given their popularity. Not sure about the Captain character, but I guess it's popular among the older generation.
It's been a while since any Major news came out. However, I think the article could use a little hyperlink to the encyclopedia page for the Major manga series (URL: manga#4116), for better navigation. |

What the !!! Seriously? You don't know about Touch? You dont know me ? Minami Asakura the most beloved anime heroine in Japan(sorry for those youngster that think Madoka, Yui, or Haruhi would be..) ? And that Tacchan is in the top as well?
Yes. I would say about 100 times bigger is accurate. Cross game is amazing as well, another hot for genius Adachi-sensei, keeping distances. Touch is one of the most believed anime ever in Japan, its a super classic. I say Tacchan (Touch) is the ace in this team, Goro would give him fierce competition but at that age, Tacchan hands down is the ace. I didn't know because majority of people I've met watched/read CG and not Touch 
Don't misunderstand xD As a huge sports anime fan, I've heard of all of Adachi's works but I haven't had the time to complete them... |

That's awesome, they should've done one of that for the World Cup and the japanese soccer team, there are almost as many soccer anime/manga as baseball and many awesome characters on it as well.
Maybe for the 2015 Asian Cup. |

Football!!! Thats the real word (not soccer) but, well, football is not as popular in Japan as Baseball, you bet most of the team would have Captain Tsubasa players, maybe some from Aoki Densetsu Shoot, maybe one from Wild Striker. |

I just saw a reference to Minami in a manga about girls that were managers of a basketball team. One of the two told the other that she was totally like Minami, the perfect team manager. That was written recently, too. So yeah, Touch is certainly a manga that still has a great influence. In terms of the ace, though, I would think Hiro from H2 would blow all of them away... spoiler[I guess he isn't available, though. He should be in the US playing for some MLB team by now...] |
