Saikano and Saekano? Sounds like either a strange coincidence or a strange licensing idea upfront.

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but at least both of them aren't related the same way, at least.

A very expected license. Hopefully the anime is of good quality.

How "Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata" (rough translation: The Correct Way to Raise an Unordinary Heroine) became "Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend"?

The rough translation sounds like it would be a better title for the show in my opinion. Based on the synopsis, the show seems like it will be pretty boring itself so I suppose the title kinda fits. I'll check it out when it airs, but my expectations are pretty low.

"Saenai" can mean "unsatisfactory," "boring," "uninteresting." "Heroines" in dating sims are pursuable female characters--potential girlfriends, in other words. When they're showing you how to raise one, they're showing you the correct way to raise one.

I could see that title turning off some potential viewers.

I wonder what casual anime fans think when the see crazy LN adaptation titles like these.

Casual fans probably do not even know what LN's and adaptations are. Crazy titles are irrelevant with them.

Looks like a total winner and I'm not even sure if I mean that ironically. Aniplex could turn any idea into a smash hit these days with their marketing.

But why don't they decide to drop their business practice of releasing singles and do just boxsets?

I'm sure just having the word "girlfriend" in it will attract a certain group of people. As for me, I'm always happy to see Aniplex fill up their schedule with releases I couldn't care less about Smile
