Saikyō Ginga Ultimate Zero was a really fun and great series, so I hope this one will be good as well.

So this did end up jumping networks, after all. I had wondered if that possibly could be the case, but I wasn't sure.

So this is another shounen show? It's premise reminds me of a lot of shows such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Bakumon, Futurecard Buddyfight, Cardfight vanguard, etc. (you get the idea). I see we have the standard vibrant spikey hair male protagonist and his trusty dragon partner and another battle system involving summoning monsters from cards. Definitely not overused or cliche. I have never even heard of this before, why is it trying to compete with so many other shounens like it when it has a very slim chance to stand out.

It already has stood out, though. It's on it's 7th series and the card game is huge in Japan. It came out long before Vangaurd and Buddyfight did.

Battle Spirits stands out from other card anime because it's more action/adventure oriented, at least the later series like Sword Eyes and Ultimate Zero, where as Cardfight Vanguard is more grounded in reality and about the characters real life issues. Yu-Gi-Oh and Duel Masters sit somewhere in the middle between them, with Yu-Gi-Oh more towards Battle Spirits and Duel Masters more towards Vanguard. However, Duel Masters is more comedy based. Together they make up the Big Four card franchises in Japan.

Hm, looks like it had its moments. I never knew there were the Big Four card franchises. You learn something new everyday. Very Happy
