For me, anime is at its best when it's exuberantly showing you stuff that you've never seen before, and Space Dandy's loaded with that kind of magic.

I'd like to agree with that sentiment, but Space Dandy doesn't feel new to me at all. To me, it's what Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt would have looked like if it were science-fiction. Though it's mindless and humorous, I can't call it original.

Don't hate it, don't love it, I'm just very indifferent about Space Dandy.

I was debating whether to get the more normal LE version or the Boobies Edition, but I went with the regular LE since I had my doubts about whether those extras were going to be worth it. Some sound good, but Mike confirmed my suspicions regarding the calendar, which was the main thing I cared about.

Regardless, this show is so much fun. The differences from episode to episode constantly keep it fresh, and it was great finding out that the episodes weren't as random as they seemed.

Marathon play is a feature that I've never used on anything that had it since I actually prefer to sit through the credit sequences every time. I guess I figure if I ever do feel inclined to skip something, I can just use the skip button.

I love Space Dandy! Most fun I've had with an anime in years! These no-class knuckle draggers know nothing of quality entertainment. It's all about the legs, baby.

I should have preordered this months ago. Now I'm stuck in a college dorm with no money, and more importantly, no Dandy. :'(

@7jaws7, pretty sure he was referring to the animation... But I wouldn't hesitate to label this show as original, regardless.

The complete series lacks "character development" but it is excellent and the third best anime of 2014. The public ANN score is making me sad. Embrace the Dandy (and for once the Boobies too)!
It´s kind of sad that they never topped the Zombies and that the last episode was only decent. Oh well and everyone i watched it with had great fun. A final ova would be nice and the dub is very good (but not needed).

Very Happy

Can't help but read this in Ian Sinclair's Dandy voice lol.

Yup, good call, I wish I went with the regular LE to save some money since the disc boxset part of the set is great as you know since you got the regular LE, while the calendar was the main thing I cared about upgrading for too and it was indeed a big let down for the reasons mentioned in the review.

Loved the show.

I've said it before, but I think it bares repeating.

Space Dandy is a smart show that enjoys being dumb and silly. I would argue that there are episodes of Space Dandy that are smarter and more creative than some entire series are.

Also, I loved both the dub and the sub, but I gotta disagree about one thing.

Ian Sinclair is Space Dandy. Not to say the Japanese VA is bad. He's great. But Ian Sinclair voice will always be Space Dandy to me.

Dude, having a voice actor/actress playing a real life version of a role that they did is a unique way to market. However, I find it awesome.

"Deluxe extras aren't that impressive"

I would have to agree. Well, if they made it around 69.99 for the Limited Editions, I would say it's worth it. But putting them up for almost $100 is really stretching it, especially for the Aloha Oe Crew Edition. At least the Boobies Edition has a calendar and a pennant.

And now a counterpoint: Space Dandy was awful.

I tried so very, very hard to get into the series, but the main character is so unlikeable, the plots were moronic and as I get older, I find my tolerance for gratuitous, blatent fan service near non-existant. Even the music left me going "meh".

Was I expecting another bebop? Naw - that was lightning in a bottle. But I wasn't expecting something this painful.

i think you mean if P&S wasnt a raunchy version of ghost stories and shin chan labeled with f bombs that will make black lagoon look timid. and at least space dandy's dub cast i can go by (though i was surprised that Ian and not Blum did Dandy ). unlike the dub choices for P&S that still have my jaw drops every time i watch it.

Personally, I don't like the show at all. I Like Dandy as a character, but the whole premise just doesn't offer much.

That being said, I'd buy that blu-ray set just for the boobies cap.

Stuck in college with no Dandy? That's no way to live. You could always go to the college cafeteria and try and meet some people. For the busy college student though there's always E-Harmony, Match.Com, or if you truly need that Dandy fast and don't care if they might have some quirks there's always Tinder. Good luck in your quest for Dandy! Wink

I always found the show more interesting than funny. A few good chortles and chuckles, but nothing deeper.

That's my feelings on it so far. The jokes aren't really making me laugh, but I love the amount creativity involved in everything.
