Exact numbers for Love Live! Movie is ¥2,069,536,480 with 1,441,784 tickets sold after the 7th weekend (44 days). Officially it is set to surpass the Madoka Movie 3 milestone of ¥2,080,000,000 by the following weekend, to become the highest grossing late-night/midnight franchise anime adaptation film. It already claimed the record for the fastest late-night/midnight franchise anime adaptation film to reach 2 billion yen at 43 days, beating out the previous record of 67 days set by Madoka Movie 3.

The Boy & the Beast film I definitely want to see since I am not exactly interested in the Love Live! franchise. Plus, I find it cool that this is about a boy and his bear since I think that is a newer trope to use.

Congratulations to The Boy & the Beast for holding onto its No. 2 slot; the movie is pretty thrilling, no doubt. Smile

More than a month later and still Love Live! made around 100-170 million JPY in less than a week. At this rate they won't have any problems blasting past the 2.5 billion JPY milestone. How long is the movie supposed to stay in theaters?

Also, Ejc: to me it seems that your numbers suggest that adults make up an overwhelming portion of the LL audience. The ratio of the announced earnings vs tickets sold is ~ 1435 JPY/ticket.

The reason why the average ticket price is higher than normal is due to benefits being given out during each weekend. Those tickets are higher priced than normal. The adult ticket price is 1800 yen, the university student ticket price is 1500 yen, and the primary/junior high/high school student price is 1000 yen (http://www.smt-cinema.com/site/shinjuku/price.html). If the majority of the people watching the movie were adults, the average ticket price would be much higher than just 1,435 yen?

The 1st weekend had a movie screening at the Fan Meeting Tour, where the ticket is priced at 2800 yen, where approximately 30K fans attended. The number who attended is of course limited by the seating capacity of the venue. So you can see why the average ticket price is so high in the 1st weekend.

Then for most of the other weekends there have been stage greeting screenings where tickets were priced at 1800 yen, thereby skewing the average ticket price upwards. Weekend #6 though had the tickets priced at 2100 yen, so the average ticket price is around 200 yen higher than normal.

On weekdays, there are no benefits being given out, so the average ticket price is lower as a result, and there are some days where female fans only pay 1100 yen (adult/university of course as younger female fans already pay 1000 yen only), and the 1st day of the month is also 1100 yen. This coming Saturday is Aug 1st, so gross could be weaker as a result due to normal tickets being priced at 1100 yen.

The data i've collected over the last 7 weeks is below.

Gross / Tickets sold / Average ticket price / Time period
¥*,400,235,800 *,251,811 ¥1,689 Weekend #1

Seems like no matter how many Pokemon movies come out they seem to rank the #1 spot for awhile. I'm glad that B&B did well. Can't wait to see it.
