It looks like it will be a split cour in that case because of GATE. However, good news for HO. Glad to see that it will get a proper adaptation at least by terms of episode #.

I was expecting this to be 12 episodes, nice to see it'll be more. Though it does also make me wonder if they'll rush the pacing to get caught up to the novels.

I certainly hope that no one wishes for this series to bomb so that JC Staff can realize the error of their ways, and just finally release Index III. Twisted Evil

I expected to be some sort of 2-cour adaptation considering how JC staff has handled Kamachi's previous works and other LN adaptation.

I'm not even sure if I'd prefer Index III over HO. Index II had an incredibly rushed pacing. If they were going to do III the same way, I'd take HO because it at least hasn't been animated until now.

I think Kamachi's cross over novel would be really fun animated, but that will never happen.

Nooooooooooo, I really wanted this to be 1 cour. Now I can't even see an Index III adaptation happening anytime soon. Curse you Miki.....

I would absolutely prefer Index III over HO, even though I'm sure HO will be great.

If Index II was rushed that's because they tried to cram seven novels worth of material into only twenty-three episodes. Considering how much of HO has been written thus far, I'd say it's entirely possible that it could run into the same problem.

Much like with Index III, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Cant wait! 10 bucks on Funimation getting this as well. One of the few Ill watch in sub, i hate subs with a passion xD.

I hope Index III will be made sooner or later. Accelerator or a new season of Railgun would be nice too.

Given their previous track record with adapting Kamachi Kazuma's work, a 2-cour show sounds as per the course, but if it will be a split-cour (it hasn't been confirmed whether or not GATE's 2nd cour will air in the same timeslot as the 1st cour's), it will be a bit unexpected.

I posted a similar message to Micah Solusod's FB-"If Micah reads this: While I don't know if Funi will license, the light novel-based anime Heavo Object (find out more on the Anime News Network article "Heavy Object Anime Listed With 24 Episodes by French Streamer") premiers October 2. Should they license it and they do a broadcast dub with you in it, that would be appropriate since the series is from the creator of Index."

I think Index II was rushed because Index has places to stop which make much more sense than others. I mean they couldn't really stop before the invasion arc because they would have to really draw those novels out to fill the episodes, and they aren't the strongest novels in the series to begin with. The invasion arc in theory was a great place to stop, but they had to rush so much to get there. And then of course they added in the SS to show what happens to Accel.

That isn't the same with HO. You could really end a season anywhere. You don't have to worry about having to either stop before this giant 2 volume + SS story arc or squeezing it in by squashing everything else.

I believe volume 5 would be a terrible way to end or start a Heavy Object season, as it's not about any of the main characters. So I'm guessing a 6 volumes adaptation for 24 episodes is reasonable, and it's the same pace they used for the first season of Index.

Start, yeah, but end I don't think it would be bad. Also there is no reason you couldn't swap the order and put volume 5 before 4 or after 6 in the anime. 5 is basically an SS.
