Damn, that's depressing. I had just gotten through my first playthrough of DS: Overclocked and hearing this about the manga is sooo depressing. Well, whatever. I'm still interested in what ending they'll go with in this manga.

The "nicknames" are their email handles. They come up often in the games, and are used in the bonus manga in the back of volume 3, at least. I didn't bother buying further than 3, since it was licensed at that point, and I'd rather have it in a language I can read.
