Interesting... my comic shop, and amazon (where I pre-ordered), both had the release date as 12/22.

Dark Horse solicited the first omnibus volume of Planates in the August Diamond Previews for delivery on December 9th. They are rather bad at hitting their due dates, but this time they came in on time.

Diamond is the only significant comic wholesaler and should be delivering to all comic shops on the same day. Usually for release on Wednesday but holidays can cause a day of delay in release. Your comic shop should have been getting the title the same date mine did and shouldn't be releasing anything on Tuesday unless they are so large they take time to process releases.

I'm not sure what is with Amazon, the extra time may be due to internal processing.

For what it is worth, Viz and Yen press do their primary distribution through book wholesalers and on occasion their titles will show in Book stores a week or more before they hit the comic shops.
