I laughed real hard at Robot on the Road. And you would be surprised at the number of people with a voyeuristic fetish on ANN.

Recommended: It sadly tries to play off the robot's sleaziness as a bad but ultimately charming quirk, and the realistic character animation only makes it creepier. Unless you have voyeuristic fetishes, this is an automatic skip.

Strongly disagree. The short is very well-made, the artistry itself is worth the price of admission and it can be very funny (as the above comment mentioned). Really it would be a shame to miss out on it regardless of what you feel about the subject matter.

Doesn't play for me, though it's not stating that it's "region blocked" I just click play, but nothing happens. It does state that "This will not be available after 31st Jan", I tried on the 29th. Rolling Eyes

I have no idea how I managed to miss Hammerhead on my first watch through of these, since I've seen almost all of the others, but anyway, yeah, that was incredible. Visually stunning with so much heart that it almost made me tear up. I would love to see that expanded into a full series. It made me think back to One Punch Man a little bit.

Yeah, I didn't find Robot on the Road funny. Looks great and I hope those people can animate something worth a damn but on it's own I just hated it. How the short doesn't end with throwing him in the river when he's turned off is beyond me.

As for the other shorts I have mixed feelings about hammer head because while it has awesome animation for both character acting and action it sort of made me laugh in how over the top it was. Speaking of laughing I was surprised that I enjoyed Proto society and it made up for how...sort of there comedy skit was (it was quirky and I like quirky but it can't be the whole selling point.) I liked Buba and Balbina, Endless night and parts of cassette girl and Girl. Everything else either didn't grab me or I ignored.

In cassette girl I think the VA was the same as Ai in Video Girl Ai, and iirc there was a scene straight out of those OVA... but it's been several months since I saw the short so I might be imagining things Wink

At least the title of both are very similar.

Same here. I've had to find...alternatives to watch these. :/

My favorite of all of these is Endless Night, which just takes my breath away. I think I've watched it 40 times by now. Anime needs to do more figure skating. Smile I wish I could find the full music track for it (and English lyrics), because that's as moving as the video.

I enjoyed Neon Genesis Impacts, but there was definitely something off about that character animation.

A bit late with this one, but I can't complain about a well-written article.

I liked the gag shorts here, apart from Robot on the Road, which made me rage. I was a bit apprehensive on Cassette Girl, but the finale is great fun, and it sticks out to me more and more with time.

Let's hope for a fourth season *realises it probably won't happen*

Not had a problem, and I'm in the UK.

Yeah. I mean, I've got no interest in skating at all, but there's something about this that really grabbed me from the off, the animation's so good and it tells a story (no idea what the song lyrics say, but it's a nice song) .

Yeah, I mean, for CG, I thought the character animation was pretty great the first time, but the awkwardness did stick out a little more this time for some reason. Maybe just because I was really looking for it though. That being said, I thought it was a pretty nicely written little story, for sure. I would watch the hell out of an Eva spin off that followed normal kids trying to deal with the insane world surrounding them.

You're right, but for what it's worth, every female speaking voice in every Animator Expo short is done by Hayashibara Megumi (and likewise with male parts by Yamadera Kouichi). I don't believe there were any exceptions.

That's super interesting. I wonder if they were on contract, or what.

The only one that I didn't outright like from this season of the Expo was The Ultraman, and even then I do have to acknowledge that it looked good. I was just a little lost since I never actually seen anything Ultraman related before. Embarassed

Robot on the Road is worth watching if you like staring at half-naked girls that also happen to be extremely well drawn and extremely well animated. But yeah, there is nothing else to it.
