It would be nice if she gets a spot, but that's a pretty formidable list of contenders.

Despite ANN' staff's general dislike of her (it seems), Rumiko Takahashi is one of the biggest trailblazers in manga in addition to being the most successful female comic writer of all time (as in, in the entire world). It's difficult to overestimate her influence.
The mere idea that she shouldn't be in the Eisner Hall of Fame, regardless of who her competition is, is absolutely ridiculous.

George Perez (Teen Titans, Crisis on Infinite Earths) has at one time or another been responsible for some of superhero comics' biggest titles. P Craig Russell (Sandman, Coraline) has already won multiple Eisners for individual works. They both have massive recognition within the US comics industry... and you have to be involved in the industry to vote.
Speaking of recognition, there are going to be people who have only read comics written three of the nominees, who will cast their fourth vote for Rube Goldberg, Edward Gorey, or Matt Groening just because they know the name.
I'd like to see Takahashi win too, but let's remember who will ultimately be voting; the fact that there are 14 names on this list and only one of them is a manga artist should give us some indication of that.

Right, I know. Which is why sadly I doubt she'll take one of those two spots. There's almost always going to be name recognition and that is going to be biased toward western artists.
But well, she should.

If there's one female manga-ka who deserves that it's Takahashi. We're talking about a woman who is no one-hit wonder and has made no less than four series that have been big or at least influential. I recently reread Ranma and if anything it's weird how it actually subverts a lot of harem genre traps, like how Ranma is anything but an audience surrogate used to fulfill shallow fantasies for instance.

As much as I want Takahashi to win this, i'm afraid Jacques Tardi is the superior writer, artist, and story teller. The fact he isn't in the Eisner hall of fame already not only surprises me but horrifies me, as his WWI comics are about the best use of the sequential arts ever.

Hope she wins it, I'm really only familiar with Inuyasha but it's still one of my top series for anime/manga out of the hundreds I've gone through.

I had pretty much the same reaction. I'm mostly only familiar with Tardi through RAW, but his work is astoundingly good.
There's four slots available, though, so Takahashi could still get in. Along with Tardi, though, the rest of the competition is tough. Personally, I've got mixed feelings about Takahashi's body of work, as it includes both some of my most and least favorite manga, but there's no denying her importance.

She really does deserve that nomination. Hell, Takahashi deserves an Eisner as-is. She's one of the hardest-working and most talented women in sequential art. She has numerous classics to her name: Inuyasha, Maison Ikkuku, Mermaid's Scar, Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura... seriously, she should have gotten an award decades ago.
