Small bit of trivia here is that ryu actually doesn't like knoxs commandments or another set that pop up in episode 7.

many people consider episode 5 unnecessary in retrospective for the reason that it's main point is to introduce the new elements of umineko along with (FINALLY spoiler[Get battler to realize what he has done/is doing])

I'm curious. EP5 is generally agreed by a sizable chunk of the fandom to be the best arc, and yet you found it to be the weakest, so I'm interested in reading your reaction to EP6, which is found to be the weakest arc. It goes a long way of humanizing Erika, Bern, and Lambda, and focuses on things the series has gone into before, but not quite in this way and not to this extent. But on the other hand, there's one large subplot going on that's seen by more than a few readers as not very compelling at all most of the time and even slightly questionable given later revelations.

It's also EP6 where a lot of readers have figured out the identity of the culprit, though not necessarily the why and how. So I'm anxious to see if you can do the same.

It's quite possible to figure out the "how" from reading Episode 6, you just have to think really hard about what you're being shown, and what it actually means.

I'm looking forward to seeing Rebecca's reaction to the spoiler[logic error.] I think that might be the hardest part to solve in the whole series.

It is possibly an issue of adaptation, something obviously missing from a Manga work is some of the amazing music that would accompany the scenes, and then there is of course the PS3 version that included voice work.
When you have Sayaka Ohara and Natsuko Kuwatani having a Ham off it certainly would be missing from a text only experience.

Well yes. There's no way to get around that I think. Erika and Dlanor's just not the same without their amazing voice acting. spoiler[Battler's return] is also just not complete without the perfect ost (dreamenddischarge my goodness).

Surprised to see people liked 5 so much, this is where is dragged a bit for me. I really liked some of the early ones because of the murder scenes and the mystery and then 7 spoiler[Kinzo's past]

You can easily play the sound track in the background while reading, lol.

End of the Golden Witch is still the weakest arc thus far in the overall Umineko When They Cry series.

Aw, so sad. 'Tis my second favorite arc. This was where I went from liking Umineko to loving it. Although, despite the fact I now consider Erika my favorite character, I'm pretty sure I still loathed her when EP5 finished.
