Plot Summary:
Sumi Kitamura is the second eldest in a parentless family of six. Her gambling good for nothing older brother is always gone and has'nt paid rent for half a year. Her brother ends out messing around with the landlords girl and when the landlord finds out he says he'll take the four youngest children and sell them to a foreign country unless she can pay him the 20,000 dollars that they owe him for the rent by the end of tomorrow in desperation to get her siblings back she tries to sell herself to get the money, while searching for a someone to buy her she bumps into a man that says he'll pay her the money if she agrees to marrie him... 
When her older brother’s gambling debt gets out of hand and someone threatens to sell her adopted younger siblings, Sumi Kitamura pleas for them by saying she’ll sell herself. Only a day earlier, a handsome man had given her his handkerchief and money to assist one of her ill siblings and she fears never to see him again. While desperately begging for money, Soichiro Ashida approaches her with an offer to buy her for marriage. Quick to agree, she soon learns it is a sham so he can inherit his grandfather’s fortune and he intends this to be a loveless relationship. Trying to adapt to his western lifestyle, she is only inspired to truly become a lady when she meets her original savior at a dinner party.
