Plot Summary:
They say that there's a beast in the forest who steals women away. Most of them are never seen again, but if they are, it's as faceless monsters called “idoles.” Belle, whose light purple hair marks her as Other to her father, loses her mother to the mysterious beast, resulting in her father locking her away for her “protection.” Years later she escapes to go out into the forest, and there she has a second encounter with the mysterious beast. He does look terrible, but there's clearly more going on here than the fairy tales would have you believe…
