Convention also taking song requests for July 31 performance in Baltimore

Baltimore-based convention Otakon is giving away three pairs of single-day passes to Lollapalooza in Chicago to see the J-rock band X Japan perform on Sunday, August 4. X Japan is scheduled to perform on that date at 4:00 p.m. Entries will be accepted via an online form until midnight EDT on Tuesday, July 20, after which winners will be selected randomly. Otakon will not provide the winners transportation to the event.

Otakon also announced on Thursday that X Japan members YOSHIKI and Sugizo are taking requests for songs that they will perform at the convention on July 31. The Otakon performance will consist of "just a few songs." Fans can submit their song requests via an online form.

X Japan already performed in the United States earlier this year, when they appeared at the Max 2010 event in Los Angeles on July 1. The band also has plans for an American tour beginning on October 1, with stops in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco, and Boston.

X Japan has created music for anime works such as the music video collection and the X film. The surviving band members Toshimitsu "Toshi" Deyama, YOSHIKI, Tomoaki "Pata" Ishizuka, and Hiroshi "Heath" Morie reunited in 2007. That was ten years after they disbanded and 9 years after their former guitarist Hideto "hide" Matsumoto passed away.

Update: The tickets are for X Japan's August 8 performance. (Lollapalooza runs from August 6 to August 8.) X Japan's Los Angeles performance was part of the launch party for the YOSHIKI Foundation.
