Dark Horse Manga Editor Carl Horn Interviewed

Editor discusses Ohikkoshi sales, manga creators who are U.S. comics fans

Diamond Comic Distributors has published an interview with Dark Horse Comics manga editor Carl Gustav Horn.

In the interview, Horn noted that the manga Ohikkoshi — a one-volume romantic comedy by Blade of the Immortal's Hiroaki Samura — has suffered from "disappointing sales." Horn also stated that Satsuma Gishiden, The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, and Eden - It's an Endless World! have not sold as well as they deserve; he mentioned these points in previous interviews and at convention panels.

At the end of the interview Horn states that he defined manga as materials created for a Japanese audience instead of an American one. He also notes that Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, is a fan of Mike Mignola, creator of the American comic Hellboy, while Battle Angel Alita creator Yukito Kishiro is a fan of Sin City and 300 comics creator Frank Miller.

Horn previously worked at Viz Media before joining Dark Horse in 2004.
