Nico Nico Holds Weatheroid Character Design Contest

The weathernews site and Nico Nico Seiga, the online still-frame counterpart to Nico Nico Douga, launched a contest to create the design for their Weatheroid character. The weathernews site is developing this female character to read weather forecasts with voice synthesis software, and the site's own reporter (and occasional actress) Airi Yamagishi is providing Weatheroid's voice data library.

Nico Nico Seiga users can submit designs in JPEG, GIF, or PNG format (10 MB maximum) between December 22 and January 22. The winner will be announced on Nico Nico Seiga and weathernews on February 4, and the grand prize is having the design used as Weatheroid's main visual art when the service launches in April.
