Phantasy Star Online 2's Character Creation Video Posted

RPG to be free-to-play on PC/PSV/iOS/Android; beta test applicants being accpeted

The official website for the online role-playing game Phantasy Star Online 2 began streaming a 38-second character creation video on Thursday. The video includes gameplay clips and highlights the character creation feature's benchmark function.

In addition to Windows PC and PlayStation Vita versions, Sega announced on Monday that the game will be available on iOS and Android smartphones. The game will be will be free-to-play across all platforms, and the developer Sega is accepting applications for participation in closed beta testing until April 16 at 6:00 p.m. in Japan. The beta test will allow players to play up to 24 hours at a time and advance up to level 30. It will have some of the final version's features such as an item appraisal shop, a beauty shop, a costume shop, and a useful team counter in the gate area.

Sega will release Phantasy Star Online 2 for PC in early summer, followed by the smartphone version in winter, and finally the PS Vita version next spring. The developer delayed the game's formal service launch until this year to make improvements.
