'Kokoro' Vocaloid Song, Stage Play Adapted Into Light Novel

Travolta-P's Kagamine Rin song about robot girl without a heart

Japanese publisher PHP will release Kokoro, a light novel based on a song of the same name from Vocaloid character voice Kagamine Rin, on Friday. Katsuyoshi Ishizawa wrote the novel based on producer Travolta-P's song with illustrations by Nagimiso.SYS. The limited edition of the novel will also include a booklet with an illustration collection and four-panel comics, as well as illustrated cards by redjuice.

The song was previously adapted as a stage play in 2009. Ishizawa wrote and directed the theater adaptation, and the light novel's story will be based on the stage play adaptation.

The original song debuted in 2008 and tells the story of a robot created by a lonely scientist. Despite having all the appearances of a regular girl, the robot lacks a heart (kokoro). The song received 1.6 million hits on Nico Nico Douga. Asami Shimoda provided the voice for Rin via the Vocaloid character vocal synthesis software.

Two preview videos were uploaded on the novel adaptation's official blog via YouTube and Nico Nico Douga.
